As you get more used to how Rematch works, you'll learn to use the walls around the pitch to your advantage. Utilize walls to create alternate passing lanes, creating new angles of attack to surprise the opposition.

How to tackle and defend

Tackling is one of the toughest elements of Rematch, and it's hard to try to take the ball from an attacker precisely. The best thing you can do is be patient - wait for the right moment before launching into a tackle. If you end up flinging yourself into sliding tackles, you'll leave space for opponents to take advantage of. Instead, jockey the attacker with the ball and use a standing tackle to nip in and take the ball away from them.

While it can be tough to track the ball, try to cover passing lanes between the ball carrier and who they might pass to. This will give you the best chance to intercept the ball if they attempt to pass. By using standing tackles instead of the sliding variety, you're more likely to come away with the ball from physical interactions.

Finally, make sure you manage your stamina bar when defending by sprinting in small bursts rather than as a sustained action. That'll allow you to have stamina left for longer sprints when covering another defender or trying to get up the other end of the pitch for a counter-attack.

Rematch shooting tips

While taking shots is far from the trickiest thing in Rematch, there are things you can do to make sure you're scoring more often than not. The first thing to note is that you should move towards the goal when shooting. Moving left or right while shooting causes the ball flight to swing in that direction, impacting your accuracy. It's also worth aiming low into the corners of the goal, as it'll be harder for goalkeepers to reach those shots.

A sneaky tactic you can use against good goalkeepers is to intentionally hit the wall above your opponent's goal. That should see the ball rebound back to you in the air, causing the goalkeeper to dive out of the way as they expect a shot on target, creating an opportunity to acrobatically knock the ball into an empty net. It's not a 100% reliable tactic, but it can work from time to time.

Keep an eye on positioning

The final tip is to watch your opponent's positioning carefully. If they're playing too aggressive, there'll often be an opportunity to send a pass in behind them for a quick counter. Likewise, if a goalkeeper is using the sweeper role a little too much, use this to your advantage when they're off their line. This even works when you're playing as a goalkeeper, simply send a shot towards the goal if their keeper has gone for a wander.
