Runescape now lets you craft up to level 110, adds brand new skilling style

What's the first thing you think of when you think of Runescape? For me, it's crafting. One of the core pillars of the long-running MMORPG's gameplay, its easy to while away the hours blowing glass in Entrana, or putting hammer to anvil to create various different armor sets and weaponry. Until now, however, players could only raise their crafting skills to level 99 which, while an intimidating number for newer players, is nothing if you've been playing since launch. But, with the newest update, aptly entitled 110 Crafting, you can finally raise your level to 110, and try out a brand new skilling style.

So let's start at the beginning. As you've likely guessed, Runescape's Crafting 110 update allows you level the skill up to 110, where it was previously 99. This follows on from Runecrafting, which hit 110 back in March, and makes one of the greatest parts of one of the best MMORPGs even better.

But, given you're now a master crafter, there are a few new things for you to look out for. The first is a mysterious new material called Starbloom, which has made its way to Gilneor from the star sprite's shooting star home planet. Obtainable via loot drops from Vilebloom monsters and Kalphite Kings (or by pickpocketing Draynor's Master Farmers), planting the material's little blue seeds with a battlestaff causes them to blossom, becoming Starbloom Flowers. This, in turn, can be used to create Starbloom Magic Armor at level 100, which starts at tier 85 and can be upgraded to tier 90.

But there's more. Starbloom is a new, volatile resource in Gilneor, so you'll need to be careful with how you handle it. During the drafting and tailoring processes, you'll be hit with several focus windows, which you'll need to keep an eye on. Failing these will cause a miscut, which reduces the quality of your item and decreases your output rate. If you fail every Dead by Daylight skillcheck like me, though, there's a repair table on-hand to fix up any items you've accidentally butchered.

When you're finished creating your masterpiece (read 'hacking at fabric with magical scissors') you can set about crafting the brand new tier 100 masterwork magic armor, new exquisite urns made of porcelain clay that grant more XP than the current roster, and all manner of platinum jewelry (obtained at mining level 104), including amulets, an anklet, bracelets, necklaces, and rings. The new porcelain clay dig site, based in the Everlight Cave will also become available, allowing you to mine this brand new resource from mining level 102 onwards.

Runescape's Crafting 110 update is available right now, so you'll be able to craft the new Starbloom armor, try out the Focus Window skilling style, and create platinum jewelry now.
