All Dune Awakening trial locations

Where are all of the Dune Awakening trials located? Through unlocking research blueprints, killing scavengers, and avoiding that deadly Sandworm, Dune Awakening takes you on a guided journey through spice dreams, choosing and pledging loyalty to your House, and uncovering the secrets of Arrakis.

This journey is comprised of a series of Dune Awakening Aql trials, and finding the location of each is a challenge of its own. The first location is given to you following a cutscene in which you have a spice dream, but finding the rest is up to you. With only the Journey menu and a few riddles at your disposal, it can be tough to find each of the eight trials. Here, we show you how to reach every Dune Awakening trial location in one of the best survival games of 2025.

How to find every Dune Awakening trial location

After the first Dune Awakening Aql trial, the clues to finding them are in the Journey tab, which can be accessed by pressing 'J'. Here, under the Find The Fremen section, you'll see instructions on how to locate your next trial.

Not only is there usually a riddle, but you can also 'View Trial Location' using the button at the bottom. This reveals a drawing of the map location, like the one above, and you must combine this with the riddle to locate the trial on your map.

Once you have surveyed the area or you are close enough to the cave entrance, each trial location is marked on your map by a pink icon and is named. The cave name often correlates to the riddle for an extra push in the right direction.

First trial location

The first trial is easy to find once you reach the right point in the Journey questline. Following a spice dream cut scene, the Hagga Basin South location will be marked on the map with a pink icon.

Second trial location

From here, you have to put in a bit more effort. The second trial is located in the Deep Struggle cave in Eastern Vermilius Gap.

The riddle tells us that the area is somewhere "Para-southeast of the great hammer of Mirzabah." Taking this into consideration, along with the image above, you can determine that the cave is the Deep Struggle cave, marked by a pink icon.

Third trial location

The third Dune Awakening trial location is in the Cave of the Lost Pilgrim in West Vermilius Gap. Be careful of areas of quicksand and drum sand when navigating to this location.

Fourth trial location

You can find the fourth Dune Awakening trial in the Hollow Hammer cave in Vermilius, on the large hammer-shaped rock formation.

This one isn't difficult to find, since the large hammer can be seen from miles away. However, it is a bit harder to get to. Make it easier on yourself by equipping the Shigawire Claw skill, available in the Trooper class. Fifth trial location

Head to Hagga Rift to find the fifth Aql trial location, The Hidden Test. You just need to get close enough for the icon to show on the map, but it's deep within the rift, so we recommend taking a suspensor and the Trooper's Shigawire Claw.

Sixth trial location

The Sixth Dune Awakening trial location is found in the Devil's Eye Cavern in Jabal Eifrit Al-sharq, northeast of the rift. Head to the northeasternmost corner of the region, and the cave can be found near the ground, opposite a Slaver camp.

Seventh trial location

Head back to Hagga Rift for the seventh Aql trial, which is found in The Red Maw. As the trial details tell you, you must "descend into the very depths of the Hagga Rift," so be sure to have a suspensor on you for this one.

Eighth trial location

The eighth and final trial location isn't marked on the map. For this one, you must instead follow the directions and image to the border between Mysa Tarill and Jabal Eifrit Al-gharb. Head up the border to the Eastern Shield Wall to find the entrance to the final trial.

If you want to reach this trial directly from the seventh, follow the rift to the northwest, and you'll eventually find a path out of the rift and into daylight.
