Is Subnautica 2 coming to Game Pass? Unknown Worlds' hit underwater survival series has had a long history with Microsoft's service. Now that Subnautica 2's on the way, our attention turns to whether this upcoming deep sea banger will also make its way onto Game Pass.

Promising a brand-new adventure on an alien planet, replete with stunning scenery and terrifying beasties - at least from what we've seen so far - we're already incredibly excited for Subnautica 2. Read on to find out if the survival game is coming to Game Pass, be it when the Subnautica 2 release date rolls around, or later on down the line.

Subnautica 2 is coming to Game Pass on day one in 2025. It will launch on the platform's Game Preview program (early access to the rest of us). Publisher Krafton confirmed this in a press release accompanying the game's reveal teaser trailer.

Krafton says that bringing the game to multiple storefronts alongside Game Pass provides an "opportunity to be part of the development journey from the start." It's currently unconfirmed if Subnautica 2 will remain on Game Pass once it exits early access. The game will receive a price increase for its full launch, and it's unclear if this monetization strategy will impact its future on the service.

Unknown Worlds put out a Q&A session on YouTube in June 2025, reiterating that the early access version of the game is coming to Game Pass later this year. It also clarified that Subnautica 2 will not be launching in early access on PlayStation 5 because Sony doesn't support these types of preview programs.

Both the original Subnautica and Subnautica Below Zero have spent time on the Game Pass games list over the years. As such, it's unsurprising that Subnautica 2 is also being made available to subscribers when early access starts. It's for this reason that we expect Subnautica 2 to remain on Game Pass after its full launch.
