CES 2026 live updates: See the latest news, surprises, and strange tech from LG, Samsung, and new startups

Updated at 3:43 am ET January 9, 2026

The annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, is the biggest tech showcase in the world, and Mashable reporters are on the ground reporting live from the event all week long.

Every year at CES, tech giants like Samsung, LG, Sony, and Lenovo preview their latest innovations, as well as futuristic concept products unlike anything you'll find in stores. CES is also a hub for ambitious startups, electric vehicle brands, and robotics companies. You never know what bizarre new gadgets (or laundry-folding robots) you'll find on the convention floor.

As part of the CNET Group, Mashable reporters will help select the winners for the official Best of CES 2026 Awards, so follow along as we cover the event in real-time. Keep checking back as we provide live updates, photos, and videos directly from the show floor.

This one's for you, parents.

Picking the official Best of CES 2026 winners, Mashable teamed up with CNET, PCMag, ZDNET, and Lifehacker, with Ziff Davis sister sites Everyday Health and IGN.

Here's who took out the award for Best Parent Tech:

Coro

Coro feels like a product that should have existed for years. It solves the problem of measuring how much your baby is eating in a simple and meaningful way. I wish it was around when my babies were young.

Shout out to finalists Earflo and Lego Smart Play System, too.

Derrick Rose at CES? It happened.

We didn't have Derrick Rose at a robot vacuum fireside chat on our CES 2026 bingo card, but here we are.

The former NBA MVP appeared at Dreame's CES 2026 booth talking about smart home tech, while the company showed off its lineup — including the one trend that won't quit: robot vacuums with arms.

Hands-on with the just-announced Motorola Fold

Mashable's tech editor Timothy Beck Werth got some quick hands-on time with the newly revealed (and unreleased) Motorola Fold, a book-style foldable that will rival Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 7. This means that Motorola will beat Apple into this product category, though a Motorola representative declined to share details on a potential release date. The same goes for the processor or camera specs.

This Tweet is currently unavailable. It might be loading or has been removed.

However, we can tell you that it feels great in the hand, and Motorola is prioritizing premium materials in the construction. The display is also beautiful, bright, and sharp. Motorola says it will have a 6.6-inch external display and an 8.1-inch 2K LTPO inner display.

Users will also be able to use a stylus for drawing and note-taking, and per Motorola's announcements, it's built for multitasking.

Best of CES 2026 winners: Best Gaming Tech

The Best of CES 2026 winners were announced on Wednesday, selected by a group of over 40 journalists from across CNET, Mashable, PCMag, ZDNET, and Lifehacker, with further input from Ziff Davis sister sites Everyday Health and IGN.

There was some stiff competition, but the winner for Best Gaming was ultimately:

Lenovo Legion Pro Rollable Concept

Rollable OLED displays have been a thing for a couple years, but they’ve been limited to enterprise laptops, if they ever even come out. The Lenovo Legion Pro Rollable concept uses this tech to bring ultrawide gaming to a laptop for the first time. Is the future rollable? We don’t know, but either way it’d be the perfect portable battlestation.

For CES 2026, Dreame said, 'Bring everything'

Dreame is a Chinese company that might not be on your radar yet. They've mostly been known for making dupes of popular robot vacuums and hair dryers from brands like Dyson and others. However, the company's most recent generation of robot vacuums impressed us in their own right, as did their beauty tools.

However, for CES 2026, Dreame wants you to know that it does more than vacuums and hair straighteners. In fact, they seem to want to do everything. It's giving Gary Oldman in The Professional.

For CES, the brand debuted a robot vacuum with a retractable arm that can pick up obstacles, and its entire lineup of vacuums and hair tools was on display. However, the company had so many more products to show off. Dreame robot lawnmowers (also with a mechanical arm), robot pool cleaners, air purifiers, refrigerators, washing machines, smart rings, smart glasses, action cameras, photo printers, coffee makers, stand mixers, computer monitors, mobile touchscreen monitors, and more.

The company seems to be positioning itself as a rival to other do-it-all tech giants like LG, Samsung, and Sony.

Dell renews its vows to XPS at CES 2026

Mashable got an early look at Dell's refreshed XPS laptops inside an unexpected CES venue: a casino wedding chapel in Las Vegas.

The setting felt intentional. "We're recommitting our love to XPS," a Dell rep told senior reporter Haley Henschel, as the company showed off the latest models in its private showroom. The message was clear: XPS isn't going anywhere — and judging by these first looks, Dell is all-in on its flagship lineup once again.

And for Best Energy Tech, the judges landed on…

Willo

After two years of development, Finnish company Willo demonstrated alignment-free wireless power that delivers energy over the air to multiple devices simultaneously, regardless of their position or movement. Alienware goes ultra-slim at CES 2026

Alienware is finally slimming things down. At CES 2026, Dell teased two upcoming gaming laptops — an ultra-slim model and a more entry-level option — signaling a shift away from the brand's reputation for bulky, premium-only machines. Mashable's Haley Henschel saw prototypes in Dell’s private showroom (they’re real), though details remain tightly under wraps.

What we do know is that the ultra-slim Alienware will feature a more understated design, come in 14- and 16-inch sizes, and measure just 0.67 inches thick, putting it on par with Apple's MacBook Pro.

Meanwhile, Dell is also refreshing its existing Alienware lineup for 2026, adding anti-glare OLED displays, Intel Core Ultra 200HX processors, and Nvidia GeForce RTX 50-series graphics to models like the Aurora 16X and Area-51.

Meet Tiiny AI, the world's smallest offline AI supercomputer

One of CES 2026's buzziest demos isn't a phone or robot. It's the Tiiny AI Pocket Lab, a pocket‑sized personal AI supercomputer that's turning heads in Vegas.

At first glance, it resembles a portable power bank — tiny, light, and brick-shaped — yet it boasts 80 GB of RAM and 1 TB of SSD storage, more than enough to run intensive AI processing entirely on-device. No cloud, no subscriptions, just privacy-minded AI in the palm of your hand. Tiiny's accompanying desktop app makes it easy to run dozens of AI models, from image generation to video creation. According to Mashable's senior tech reporter, Matt Binder, the Tiiny AI Pocket Lab is set to launch soon on Kickstarter for $1,399.

Robot boxer gets KO'd

Some robots at CES are out here folding your laundry. Others are on the ropes.

China's Unitree Robotics put its Humanoid Robot G1 in the ring at CES, with a boxing match that drew quite a crowd. These are the same robots that competed at the first ever World Humanoid Robot Games last year, but from the looks of it, they're not quite matched to human boxing opponents yet.

This handheld camera has AI tracking at 50x zoom

Ex-DJI engineers have crafted a new handheld AI tracking camera, the RocX, which we saw in action on the CES show floor.

Mashable's Matt Binder checked out the long-distance view camera with its 50x zoom, a device able to use AI to automatically follow a specific object from way, way, way back. Was it successful?

Move over, AI smart glasses! Razer has a new AI wearable

If you're not a glasses-wearer, AI-powered smart glasses might seem superfluous to you. It's something Razer is cleverly considering with its new wearable unveiled at CES, an AI-powered headset called Project Motoko.

Mashable's Matt Binder got an up-close look at the prototype, writing, "Razer's inspiration here is clearly that the company believes that more potential customers wear headphones throughout their day than a pair of glasses or even a watch. Plus, users who want AI wearables want ones that feel like products they already utilize. And, in our hands-on with Project Motoko, it just felt like a regular pair of headphones. It seems like Razer is on to something here."
