I adore the cyberpunk genre's juxtaposition of low-life and high-tech. These worlds might have robotics and computers beyond our wildest dreams, but 99% of the people that exist within them struggle to afford to see it. I also love the infinite replayability and build variety of roguelikes. It's almost addicting to come up against challenges on repeat until they're beaten, with Dead Cells and Risk of Rain just a few of my favourites. If you're similarly inclined, you'll enjoy Kiborg, which puts the cyberpunk genre and roguelikes in a blender. If you missed it at launch, a new update and sale make now the ideal time to give it a shot.

In Kiborg's far-flung future, criminals can't escape their sentencing with death. If you die with any time left to serve, you're rebuilt and forced to fully endure your time in a cell. You do have the choice to try and reduce your sentence by fighting through hordes of enemies on a gruesome game show, but the success rate is, as you'd imagine, slim at best.

Fortunately, Kiborg outfits you with the tools to stand a chance of actually winning. You've got a wide array of sci-fi firearms and melee weapons at your disposal, each of which is capable of its own special kind of destruction. The roguelike is both a beat-'em-up and over-the-shoulder shooter, so you'll need to choose the right approach for the opponent you're facing.

When you die, Kiborg finally starts to open up. You can replace your body parts with cybernetic implants, with each offering up new augmentations and abilities you can use on your next run. These implants work alongside your weapons to create myriad playstyles, which you can experiment with until you finally come out victorious.

Now that Kiborg has been out for a little while, developer Sobaka Studio has expanded the game with the Endless Update. The title feature is the new endless mode, where after defeating the final boss Novak you can keep fighting.

You also have two entirely new arenas as a part of the update. One throws you into fights against the hordes, putting your endurance to the test. The other is a boss rush, where you face off against all of Kiborg's toughest opponents. Beating each will reward you with a new character skin, so you can show off your victory. Everyone in Kiborg has also had their speed increased by 15 to 30%, which should make "tower traversal during combat feel more fluid," according to Sobaka.

Sobaka Studio has released the Kiborg Endless Mode update on Steam. You can also grab it at 20% off until Thursday June 26, so expect to pay $19.99 / £16.79 until then. Just head right here.

Kiborg isn't the only thing you can play right now, as we also have all the best fighting games and cyberpunk games on PC today.
