How long is The Alters? Jan doesn't know the extent of how much trouble he's in, at least not at the beginning. Crash landed on an alien planet, the entire crew dead, a deadly sun on its way; things are looking great for old Dolski. There's a lot of work to be done, and a lot of alters to create.
It's easy to get lost in the mission in The Alters, with hours spent at your mining outposts, and nights spent watching movies with your newly-created pals. If you plan on unlocking every alter and neutralizing every anomaly, here's how long it will take, not factoring in any disastrous The Alters base breakdowns like we had.
From our playthroughs, The Alters comes in at around 20 hours to beat. This can vary depending on how efficient you are at gathering resources and if you plan on exploring everything the game has to offer. A completionist run would top around 25 hours.
While you can plow through the main story, there are a host of side quests, individual stories, and places to discover on the alien planet that may add context to your journey. Each of your alters has a journey of their own, and going through that with them adds context to Jan's life and may affect his decisions going forward.
Now that you know how long The Alters is, you can get settled and enjoy the ride, as much as a treacherous journey over a barren alien landscape can be considered enjoyable.
