All The Alters anomalies and how to defeat them

How do you defeat all The Alters anomalies? There are six different types of anomalies in The Alters (seven if you include Planetary Samples), and each one requires a different approach to know how to get rid of it, or whether it's easier to avoid them.

Exploration is tough in this survival game, and even with the best alters, it's still hard to stay alive while managing your base and making sure everyone is fed and happy. Anomalies just add to the plight, standing in the way of collecting resources or exploring new areas, so here's every anomaly in The Alters and how to defeat them.

The Alters anomalies are:

• Static anomaly
• Pulsating anomaly
• Following anomaly
• Prism anomaly

Static anomaly

This is the first anomaly you encounter in the first area of The Alters. They're pretty harmless and can be easily avoided by walking (holding CTRL) around them. If you run past them, they tend to attack you and can cause radiation burns.

Pulsating anomaly

This anomaly is usually found in key areas where you'll progress the story or near deposits. They're tricky to destroy due to having two cores and their expanding and contracting nature. It's best to wait until they contract to tackle both cores with the Luminator.

Following anomaly

This quick anomaly is easy to destroy as it has a large core, but you have to be fast, as it lunges at you, exploding on impact and dealing a hefty amount of radiation damage in the process. They also make a shrill, high-pitched noise, so you can preempt them. Simply use the Luminator as they approach.

Prism anomaly

You encounter your first Prism anomaly in Act 3, the last area of the game. They're very tricky to destroy as they distort reality, and finding their core can be a pain. It's best to avoid them so they don't cause radiation damage. The longer you spend in one, the harder it is to find your way out.

Time Anomaly

The Time Dilation anomaly speeds up time, whittling away the precious hours you have to explore before the night radiation arrives. Fortunately, the core inside of them is fairly slow and easy to target. Once hit, it slows down considerably and stops near you.

Energy Gate

The Energy Gate doesn't have a core and can't be destroyed, which is a pain as it depletes your energy bar any time you walk through it. While there isn't a way to get rid of it, you can research Energy Gates Inversion in the Exploration tab of the Research Lab. This reverses the effects of the Energy Gate instead, refilling your Suit Battery.

Planetary Samples

Planetary Samples can be used to upgrade your base, along with other perks in exploration and economy in the Research Lab. They are completely harmless, and multiple samples can be found in each area of the three acts. You need to use your Luminator to follow the path of the anomaly, which is usually perilous, until you find the source.
