Minecraft player recreates Apex Legends in block form, and it's got wall-bouncing and everything

Apex Legends is probably my most-played videogame of all time. I've spent thousands of hours beaming fools from Kings Canyon to E-District, and know every map, character, and voice line better than the back of my hand. I still can't shoot straight, but that's a problem best solved using magic. There have been many attempts on Apex's crown as one of the best battle royale games since its release, but the closest one to apeing the real thing is this Minecraft version, which has a frankly baffling level of detail for a block-based mod.

I truly believe that Minecraft players can do anything. Our list of the best Minecraft mods is a testament to that, and this Apex-ified game is no different. Posted on Reddit by 'Lonely_Run2204,' the gameplay footage looks slick. Showing FPS action on OG Kings Canyon and World's Edge, the solo developer says seven Apex Legends characters have already been implemented to the mod - Bloodhound, Vantage, Octane, Horizon, Wraith, Ash, and Mirage - but they hope to add more in time.

The mod uses parts of many existing mods and has been developed using command blocks. While the voicelines and text are currently only available in Chinese, the developer's language, they plan to add an English translation to help out international players.

The game itself pits a squad of three players against 19 squads of advanced AI bots who will strafe, heal with Shield Batteries and Med Kits, and use coordinated tactics to stop you from achieving that victory. Honestly, it sounds more difficult than most of my ranked matches.

The level of detail shown in this trailer is astonishing. From implementing Legend abilities to recreating the niche reload mechanics like flicking the Peacekeeper in a 360 spin, everything has been accurately mimicked. The developer has even implemented Apex's iconic slides and wall-bounces for those Minecraft players who want to flex their high-level movement mechanics.

While the map itself has been stitched together from existing free resources, Lonely_Run2204 plans to rebuild a 1:1 scale map of their own next. However, seeing as the project has already taken them six months to create, this plan is on hiatus unless they can find collaborators to work on the project with them.

Fans of both games are astonished at the care this solo dev has put into this project. "The hard work and time put into this is next level," says one Reddit user, while another calls it "the most impressive thing this site has even shown me."

Gamers and passion projects, name a better combination. With all the effort already put into this mod and the creator actively seeking collaborators, who's to say this couldn't be the next Skyblivion? I'll certainly give it a whirl - if they incorporate Fuse next, that is.
