Embark reveals big changes to Arc Raiders updates going forward as new patch tackles even more frustrating bugs
A new Arc Raiders update is here - and no, it's sadly not the big Cold Snap update arriving earlier. In this small but important patch, more fixes arrive for some of the game's most annoying bugs. However, the bigger news is that Embark Studios is changing how it rolls out updates and store rotations going forward, and is preparing players for a slower rate of patches as the Christmas break approaches.
Arc Raiders is definitely one of the most pleasant surprises of 2025, quickly winning me over with its vibrant and accessible take on the extraction genre that still feels gritty, challenging, and daring. It's one of the best multiplayer games of the decade so far, and it's looking in good shape for a long future. Ever since it launched at the tail end of October, we've been getting regular, weekly updates every Thursday - some are pretty transformative, while others, like today's, are dedicated to just a handful of bug fixes. However, despite finding its rhythm with these updates, Embark is going to be changing things up.
Starting with the huge, winter-themed Cold Snap update that launches on December 16, all future patches and store refreshes will now take place on a Tuesday, not a Thursday. However, don't expect the weekly patches to continue.
"Our goal is to continue to investigate and fix critical issues as soon as we can, but it will not be on a weekly cadence," community lead 'Ossen' says in a message on the Arc Raiders Discord server. "From now on, our release window and store rotation will shift to Tuesdays, however, as the winter holiday period approaches, the team will be taking a much needed break so that we can come back in January ready to bring more updates. During this time we will continue to monitor and work on critical issues."

That break is certainly well-earned, but with next week bringing the Cold Snap update and the first Expeditions window - which will allow the game's top grinders to wipe their accounts and start afresh for new bonuses and rewards - there should be plenty to keep raiders occupied over the Christmas period. Ossen also says that Cold Snap will "bring many different fixes" on top of the ones that have just arrived.
So, what has actually changed today? Well, the new update takes aim at four specific bugs that have been causing issues. First, a zipline on the Stella Montis map has been completely removed as players were using it to get out of bounds. An environmental collision on Blue Gate that would see players vault through a wall has also been sorted. Over on Spaceport, a gap in the Launch Tower area that would let you shoot other players through a wall has been fixed too.
More work has also been done to sort those annoying issues with certain materials and surfaces not providing appropriate cover. Embark has "fixed material issues that caused multiple objects to not block bullet fire or ARC vision," and I'm hopeful this will see the end of this particular problem that's been plaguing the game since launch.
