Getting a Steam Deck OLED for $1 may seem impossible, but there is a way

If you asked me which of my gaming devices has consumed most of my time this year, it'd easily be my Steam Deck. Even with a full gaming PC setup, the Steam Deck makes it far too easy to chill out on the couch and spend countless hours nailing those Vampire Survivors runs, and if you're hoping to experience that same Valve magic, Fanatical currently has a rare chance for you to get a Steam Deck OLED for $1 / £1. That's right, a single dollar.

Despite powerful rivals popping up, few can knock the Steam Deck OLED off its podium at the top of our best handheld gaming PC list. It earned that spot for a lot of reasons, but the beautifully vibrant display, good battery life, and the fact that SteamOS - while quirky at times - is much more accessible than navigating Windows on a handheld are its best qualities. Its custom AMD APU is still excellent, too, despite being a few years old at this point, and while it's a hefty design, it's fairly comfortable to hold for hours. Once you get used to it, at least.

However, it's the holiday season, and most of us are going to have lots of food and gift-related expenses, so it makes sense if there isn't room in your budget for a Steam Deck at the moment. Fortunately, you may not need to budget for one right now, as you can try your luck at getting one in the Fanatical Mystery Box Bundle. Starting from just $1 / £1 per pull,  you could score a Steam Deck OLED (a 1TB model, too) at a $648 discount.

Of course, there is only a very small chance of getting a Steam Deck OLED for a buck. Nonetheless, you'll always walk away a winner, as each chance is also a Steam key for a game, ranging from exciting indies that you missed out on to older triple-A hits. On top of that, each entry gives you a chance to score a 'Golden Box' full of the best PC games from this year, worth a total of $1,000. Not bad for a few dollars, let's be honest.

If you're keen to give it a shot, the Fanatical Mystery Box Bundle is live now. You can spend from $1 / £1 for one key all the way up to getting 25 keys for $16.69 / £16.69. The more keys you buy in one order, the cheaper each key is, and of course, the more chances at those coveted prizes. You're also guaranteed to not get any duplicate game keys with each order. However, if you make multiple orders, there is a chance you will get duplicates.

I've bought plenty of these bundles over the years, and while I've never won those big must-have prizes, I've also found some absolute gems I wouldn't buy otherwise. For example, I got Sable, Lake, and Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood from previous boxes, and they were all well worth the price I paid. So, you're in for some treats regardless of whether you get those fancy top-tier prizes.
