Minecraft Mounts of Mayhem is here, showering you in new mobs and adding one of its most lethal weapons ever
It's been a real treat seeing all the components of Minecraft Mounts of Mayhem trickle into snapshots and previews, but now the full package has arrived in Bedrock and Java. One of the biggest drops in terms of new mobs, it also lets you wield the deadly spear, craft netherite armor for horses, and so much more.
Mojang has already expanded one of the best sandbox games with loads of new content this year. There was the big copper-themed update, which added a new gear tier and the greatest personal assistant of them all, the copper golem. Vibrant Visuals has made Minecraft look more beautiful than ever before. And, most importantly of all, we got new pigs. However, Mounts of Mayhem is a very large cherry atop this already generously iced cake, capping off 2025 in style.
The wide array of new Minecraft mobs in this drop is pretty amazing. Mounts of Mayhem introduces the nautilus (and its zombified counterpart), an essential mob for those wanting to explore underwater. There are also new variants for two existing rideable mobs - the zombie horse, and the camel husk.

A new hostile mob arrives in the form of the parched, a skeleton variant that'll be encountered in desert regions riding atop camel husks. Equipped with a bow and arrow, they're a ranged threat you need to be prepared for. They'll also be riding in tandem with a regular husk wielding the new spear weapon, so it'll be a dangerous task taming the new camel husks.
Speaking of, the spear is a weapon you should look to acquire as quickly as possible. Built for jousting while riding your favorite, mountable mobs, you can chip away at a foe's health with its jab attack, or build up some energy for a lethal charge attack that will deal more damage the faster you're moving. It also comes with a new, unique enchantment called Lunge, a must-have for the spear, as it can give you an extra burst of speed that will make those charge attacks even more powerful.
Elsewhere, a rework now lets all mobs swim through water, so no more detours when your path is blocked by lakes and rivers. You can also now protect horses with armor as sturdy as your own - that's right, you can deck your equine pals out in netherite.

The Minecraft Mounts of Mayhem update is out right now and is free for all Bedrock and Java players.
With such a big drop to end the year, it'll be interesting to see what the next few months bring. We know Mojang is being much more freeform now with its updates, choosing to add smaller themed drops more regularly, but Mounts of Mayhem was a big undertaking. It could be a few months yet before we see some significant new content and features, and 2025 will take some beating in 2026, but I'm willing to be proven wrong on both counts.
