Baldur's Gate 3 has nearly ten days' worth of voice lines, and Larian boss admits that it "wasn't really keeping track"
Even if you're on your umpteenth playthrough of Baldur's Gate 3, chances are you're still going to come across interactions you've never seen before. As you make new choices, befriend new allies and make different enemies, and spec your character in alternative ways, you'll delve deeper and deeper into Larian's enormous pot of voice lines and narrative outcomes. It's arguably the biggest reason why BG3 is one of the best RPGs of all time. Now, a fan has done some serious research and worked out that there are over nine days' worth of voice lines in the game's files, and on learning this, Larian CEO Swen Vincke admits that "we weren't really keeping track."
The scale of Baldur's Gate 3's library of interactions has been well-documented, with claims of there being over 114,000 recorded lines and well over a thousand speaking characters. But this new research collates every single voice line in the game and works out how much air time each character has in total. The per-character breakdown is super interesting (more on that in a moment) but if you were to add the duration of every voice line together, you'd end up with 236 hours, 55 minutes, and 45 seconds worth of chatter. That translates to roughly nine days and 20 hours.
This is according to 'Everwhite-moonlight' on Reddit, and as mentioned, they've crunched the numbers further to reveal who the most talkative characters in BG3 are. It'll come as no surprise that Amelia Tyler's voice is the one you'll hear the most. As the narrator, she doesn't have the highest total number of voice lines, but the 7,629 of them she recorded for the game add up to a total run time of 14 hours, 43 minutes, and 55 seconds.

The narrator is closely followed by Neil Newbon's Astarion, who has the most total lines at 9,658, but a lot of these are shorter quips, so the collective duration is just over 13 hours. Trailing Astarion in third place is Shadowheart, with Gale and Lae'zel completing the top five. You can check out all of Everywhite-moonlight's data here.
These stats have been going viral over the last few hours, and they've now come across Vincke's desk. The Larian boss has always been proud of Baldur's Gate 3's depth, replayability, and ability to stitch together so many branching, malleable narratives, but it sounds like the studio got carried away.
"We weren't really keeping track," Vincke admits, "which I think was for the better."

I'd certainly agree there. It's worth noting though that the quantity of voice lines means nothing if the quality isn't also there - 236 hours of mediocre writing and vocal performances is no use to anyone. BG3 managed to do both.
