Star Wars The Old Republic just got a huge new Dantooine-themed update, proving the cult classic MMO still has some juice

There are few Star Wars titles that are as successful as Star Wars The Old Republic. KOTOR and its sequel may be more beloved, the Respawn Jedi games are more modern, and my personal favorite is a podracing game I played at my local arcade when I was a kid, but The Old Republic has longevity on its side. Despite looking a little dated these days (which is no bad thing), the game is still receiving substantial updates 14 years after its release. The latest of these reimagines Dantooine, with a mysterious spaceship crash landing on the planet's surface and wreaking havoc with the native flora.

The Crash Site Outpost on Dantooine is intended for experienced players, and therefore you'll only be able to explore it if you're level 80 or higher. Complete a number of dynamic encounters in each of the three biomes - including the stunning Sporefall Biome - and you unlock a Master Mode difficulty boss, the Orbital Core.

Expect to throw yourselves at this fiendish foe time and time again before defeating it - this is an MMO after all, there's got to be some grinding involved. But the Dantooine missions aren't the only thing arriving in Star Wars The Old Republic's Pursuit of Ruin update.

In addition to the quests, bosses, mounts, pets, and stronghold arriving on Dantooine, Pursuit of Ruin will advance the Galactic Threads storyline as players track down the recently-freed Darth Malgus.

A new PvP season is also upon us. Gladiators of the Outer Rim will reward titles, achievements, flairs, armors, and a jetpack mount to players who participate. Of course the seasonal Life Day event and annual anniversary events will begin on Tuesday December 16.
