Warhammer 40k: Gladius - Relics of War sends you to the titular planet of Gladius Prime. Once a world of peace, the surface has been engulfed in conflict, as everyone wants a piece of the relics that lie beneath the surface. The iconic Warhammer factions of the Astra Militarum, Space Marines, Orks, and Necrons are all at your disposal, each with their own playstyle and technology tree.

As this is a 4X game, you'll need to explore the randomly generated landscape of Gladius Prime, which is filled with threatening wildlife that can crush your troops' morale and their beat out their skills. From here, you need to construct cities, expand your fledgling empire, and exert as much control as possible. Whether it's through city edicts, tactical operations, or all-out war, how you rule is up to you.

While the base game is free, it's also worth noting that plenty of its DLC is also on sale on GOG right now. You can snag some of the expansions for up to 50% off, with the offers running right up until Gladius returns to full price.

If you end up loving Gladius, I've got some great news. The game's developer, Proxy Studios, has also made its own 4X experience, Zephon, and it's out right now. Blending the post-apocalypse with eldritch horror and cyberpunk monsters, it certainly feels like like it comes right out of the 40k universe.
