Hell Clock is an ARPG and roguelike hybrid you need to try. Reflecting the real-world War of Canudos in late-19th-century Brazil, it's a mix of Hades, Path of Exile, and Diablo that demands constant skill and forward thinking. The depths of Hell are certainly going to challenge you, but the game comes with more than enough build variety to help you emerge victorious. Best of all, the Steam demo has just been expanded to give you more to do ahead of its imminent launch.

In Hell Clock, you take up arms as Pajeú. On a quest to rescue the soul of his fallen mentor, Pajeú is venturing through the bowels of Hell, fighting hordes of the undead and demonic reincarnations to get to them. If you've played Hades, or any isometric roguelike for that matter, Hell Clock will feel instantly familiar. You hunt down ancient relics to create devastating builds, use a range of powerful abilities, and combine both to fight a little better each time. With a three-act story at launch, this is one you don't want to miss.

Ahead of launch, Rogue Snail has given Hell Clock's demo a complete overhaul. You now have 17 floors of Hell to get through instead of the previous 14, and there's full English voice-over, too. Starting now, any progression you make in the demo will also carry over to launch, and there's even dual-stick controller support, meaning you can now aim and move in separate directions if you want to.

While the demo has been expanded, Rogue Snail has also pushed the Hell Clock launch back a little. "Why are we shifting to July? The main reason is the new Path of Exile league (3.26) dropping on June 13. It's bittersweet because, as players, we are very excited that our favorite game will have an update after a long time… but as indie developers of a small ARPG we simply cannot compete with a huge launch like that, so we are forced to delay.

"We're all big fans and PoE players, and it had a huge influence on the development of Hell Clock. We think it's best to give Hell Clock some breathing room from that, let you guys (and our team) enjoy the new season, and then dive into Hell Clock a bit later."

Rogue Snail has updated the Hell Clock demo, while pushing the game's launch date back to Tuesday July 22. You can find the demo here.
