BO7 Astra Malorum main quest easter egg guide

When is the BO7 Astra Malorum easter egg released? In a Treyarch zombies map with tinges of Infinity Ward's Zombies in Spaceland, our Black Ops squad is headed to outer space in Astra Malorum.

This far-out Zombies map takes place on a strange Dark Aether planet after vehicular BO7 Wonder Weapon Ol' Tessie somehow transports the team through space. On arrival on the purple, glowing rock, they find an observatory, museum, and more, all of which are crucial to the latest Black Ops 7 Zombies easter egg. Here's what to look out for when Astra Malorum launches.

Astra Malorum release date

The Astra Malorum map and main quest launch with BO7 Season 1 on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 9am PT / 12pm ET / 5pm GMT.

The new map launches on the BO7 Season 1 release date, along with other new content for Warzone and multiplayer, and the first battle pass of the game.

Here's what we'll be looking out for during the Astra Malorum main quest:

• Suspicious symbols on the walls - shooting at them in a specific order may be required at some point.
• Oscar - the deadly robotic mini-boss might play a part in the main quest, much like Uber Klaus in the Ashes of the Damned easter egg.
• Activating traps - the new laser trap may be incorporated into the quest in some way, perhaps as a means of dropping a quest item, similar to the Ravager Eyes drop in Ashes of the Damned.
• Constellations - constellations are a frequent sight in Zombies easter eggs, and since we're in an observatory here, they'll surely be involved one way or another.
• Pack-A-Punch - The Pack-A-Punch machine travelled with you in Ashes, so it could be used in the easter egg story this time around. Have you noticed that Oscar looks a little bit like the classic PaP machine?
• The writing's on the wall - it could just be flavor text, but there are a few cryptic messages painted on the walls in blood.
• Fillable canisters - Throughout the Dark Aether story, there have been countless fillable canisters as part of Zombies main quests, and we've seen some canisters in the background of trailers.
• Meteor showers - we've seen that special rounds feature dramatic and beautiful meteor showers. As meteors crash to the surface, some release those annoying Ravagers, but perhaps others will hold quest items?
• Wonder Weapon - obtaining the map-specific Wonder Weapon is always crucial to the main quest, and the UFO-inspired Astra Malorum gun will be important.

This map is much smaller than Ashes of the Damned, meaning the solution to the easter egg should be found much faster this time. Hopefully, it'll also be quicker to complete.
