Does Dune Awakening have crossplay and cross-progression?

Does Dune Awakening have crossplay? While Funcom's sci-fi survival epic will soon be released on PC, everything's quiet on the console front. We do, at least, know that players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S will eventually be able to immerse themselves in the Arrakean desert, and there's already been talk about crossplay from the devs.

Dune Awakening has had to get creative with Frank Herbert's spice-fueled odyssey, ducking around the canon currently being adapted by Legendary Pictures. With Paul Atreides out of the picture, the Arrakis you'll explore when the Dune Awakening release date rolls around will look rather different from what you know. But will you be able to enjoy the adventure game with pals on other platforms when the console launch rolls around, and will you be able to explore with your character, whether on PC or console, via a Dune Awakening cross-progression system?

Dune Awakening crossplay has yet to be confirmed, but creative director Joel Bylos has indicated it could arrive with the console launch.

Speaking to Jason 'PirateSoftware' Hall in December 2024, Bylos says: "We'll launch on PC, and then we'll release on consoles sometime after that - it hasn't been the priority to get the consoles up to parity with the PC yet. As for crossplay, that'll be the discussion that happens when we start talking with platform owners about console stuff."

Though it's only a morsel of information, it does at least show the studio's intent to bring crossplay to the game if it's possible.

Dune Awakening cross-progression has not been confirmed. Funcom has yet to officially comment on the ability to continue your journey across platforms, and it's unlikely we'll hear any more on it until we near the console launch.

Considering the MMO narrative elements of Dune Awakening, it would make sense for cross-progression to eventually come to the game. The last thing you'd want is to have to restart the narrative that runs alongside the experience each time you hop in on a new platform.
