The Stellar Blade system requirements are surprisingly low as PC demo impresses

What are the Stellar Blade system requirements? This PS5 action-adventure game is finally coming to PC, but despite some impressive graphics, the Stellar Blade minimum and recommended specs are very reasonable.

You won't need the best graphics card to run Stellar Blade on PC. In fact, based on what we've seen so far in the Stellar Blade demo, the game also runs great on gaming handhelds such as the Steam Deck. This should come as no surprise, given that it was a target set by developer Shift Up in its most recent business report.

The Stellar Blade minimum requirements only list an Intel Core i5 7600K or AMD Ryzen 5 1600X alongside an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon RX 580. If you meet these requirements, you can expect 60fps at 1080p while using the low graphics preset.

As for the RAM requirement, it sits at 16GB across both tiers, meaning if your gaming PC is older, or built for budget gaming, you may struggle if you only have 8GB. Luckily, upgrading to some of the best gaming RAM compatible with your system is one of the cheapest and simplest upgrades you can currently take on.

As for the Stellar Blade recommended specs, these take a decent jump up, but still only list an Intel Core i5 8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600X paired with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Super or AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT.

If you meet these requirements, you can expect 60fps when playing at 1440p using the medium graphics preset. It would have been ideal if the recommended specs had targeted the high graphics preset at 1440p, as is typical for a lot of other games. However, there is no sign of upscaling being used to determine these specs, unlike in the FBC Firebreak system requirements or the Hell is Us system requirements.

In a quick test of the Stellar Blade demo, our RTX 4070 testing rig managed 60fps with 1% lows of 48fps using the high graphical preset. Enabling Nvidia DLSS 4 and frame generation saw the average frame rate skyrocket to 140fps, while the 1% lows only jumped up to 52fps.

On handhelds, a Steam Deck graphics preset is available and returns performance of around 50fps as an average on Valve's handheld. It does use quite aggressive upscaling with AMD FSR 3 set to performance, but this doesn't leave the image quality looking as poor as I initially feared, and the game is very playable with this preset.

The Stellar Blade download size currently sits at 75GB. An SSD is recommended at the minimum tier, and required for anything higher.
