8 Christmas Ornament Trends You're Going to See Everywhere in 2025

Whether you love a traditional Christmas look complete with rich reds, greens, and timeless plaids, or you're itching to try something new, this season's Christmas ornament trends have it all. We asked holiday decor experts to share what shoppers are loving right now and what we should be adorning our trees with this holiday season.

"What excites me most about this year’s ornament trends is the sheer variety, truly catering to every aesthetic, from nostalgic classics to playful pastels and dramatic modern looks," says holiday merchandise expert Melissa Mills. "While your personal style will determine the colors and materials you gravitate toward, a few overarching themes are emerging."

Bows, Ralph Lauren-style classics, and storybook charm top the list of designers' favorites this season. Keep reading for more about this year's Christmas ornament trends.

1. Old Money-Inspired Classics

The viral 'Ralph Lauren Christmas' trend is everywhere this holiday season, embracing a classic, old money-inspired aesthetic. "Ornaments take center stage in this Ralph Lauren-inspired aesthetic, featuring the quintessential colors, textures, and patterns that often define the holiday season," Mills says. To create the timeless look, Mills suggests reaching for ornaments in rich red and green colors, metallic accents, and textured glass and elegant velvet ornaments that exude a luxurious holiday spirit.

2. Oversized Statement and Darling Mini Ornaments

"One of the biggest ornament trends this year is all about size, from maxi to mini," says seasonal decor expert Shelby Waag. The trend embraces oversized statement ornaments as well as darling little tree decorations in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors. "Bigger ornaments can lean more playful; Think: large red cardinal birds that clip onto branches, whimsical animals that make a splash, or larger faux candles to add a nostalgic touch," Waag suggests. As for mini ornaments, she says they're a great option for decorating a small tree or filling in bare spaces on a larger tree.

3. Elevated Handmade Ornaments

Elevated handmade ornaments are adding a personal touch to Christmas trees this holiday season. "We’re seeing a shift toward the meaningful and handmade," Mills says. Additionally, since Christmas ornaments can get pretty pricey, going the DIY route can be a budget-friendly option.

Mills shares that this year, 62% of the brand's shoppers have expressed that they feel more financially stressed than they did a year ago, making DIY ornaments a great money-saver. "This trend is about crafting together and cherishing time spent with loved ones, making the finished ornament even more special," the holiday expert says.

4. Bowcore, Iridescent Accents, and Pastel Palettes

Bowcore is the sweetest and loveliest of this holiday season's ornament trends. "This viral, sweet aesthetic is everywhere from ornaments themselves to tree toppers, skirts, and garland," Mills shares. Bow ornaments have a delicate and dainty look to them, adorning trees with a romantic feel and a touch of whimsy.

In the same vein, iridescent ornaments and pastel color palettes are adding softness to Christmas trees this Christmas. "Twinkling ornaments in pretty pastels and iridescent finishes are a major trend this season," Mills shares. She suggests accenting them with details such as pearls, jewels, and metallic finishes to add a magical sparkle to your tree.

5. Vintage Ornaments

Vintage style has been an overarching design trend in 2025, and Christmas ornaments are no different. "Still going strong are vintage glass ornaments in a variety of shapes," Waag says. Experts suggest looking for vintage ornaments in thrift stores, antique shops, estate sales, and online sites such as Etsy, Facebook Marketplace, or eBay.

Hanging vintage ornaments on your tree adds instant character and makes it look like you've curated the ornament collection over many years. "When done up in retro colors, they add a touch of nostalgia, which people are craving right now," Waag adds.

6. Woodland-Themed Ornaments

Natural-looking artificial trees are a big trend this Christmas season, so it's no surprise that woodland-themed ornaments to match are popular. Waag says these include ornaments that feature bottle brush animals, birds, and other wildlife. "Also noteworthy are playful animal prints and tortoise accents," the expert adds.

7. Little Women Winter Vibe

If you're a book lover, you'll appreciate the "Rustic Storybook Charm" ornament look Mills says is trending this Christmas. "We call this the ‘Little Women Winter’ vibe," she says. "It's all about evoking that cozy, nostalgic feeling of time spent by a crackling fireplace." Think: natural colors, forest-inspired motifs, wooden accents, rich textures, and handmade charm.

8. Chic Monochromatic Ornaments

"For those who want a chic, modern, and dramatic departure from the traditional, the Gothmas aesthetic is key," Mills says. To achieve the sophisticated look, she recommends using monochromatic ornaments and choosing black, silver, and gunmetal as primary colors. "The trend is all about rich textures and contrasting accents, like velvet, studs, metal detailing, and heavy beading, which gives a dramatic, high-fashion look to the decor," Mills says.
