The Witcher 4 might be miles away, but Geralt and Ciri are honing their blades for some turn-based tactics this month

Pining for The Witcher 4? Sad to see the Netflix show approaching its end after all these years? Though there's nothing stopping you from starting your second (or fifth) run through The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt while you wait for something, anything new in the Witcher universe, you could turn your attention to a humble crossover event in an entirely different kind of game. Sword of Convallaria, one of the best turn-based strategy games of last year, is gearing up to welcome Geralt and his crew next week.

Announced around this time last month, the convergence of The Continent and Iria has now been confirmed to take place from November 28, bringing at least four famous faces of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (and maybe even a certain someone's bathtub) to Sword of Convallaria in a unique crossover with no pre-determined end date in sight.

Now, this is far from the first time Geralt and the gals have ventured out of their world and into another. They're very much prone to strolling through a good portal (famously much to the White Wolf's annoyance). It's also not the first time they've wound up in another game. The Monster Hunter World fight against the Ancient Leshen is still one of its hardest, and is very much still available to bash your head against if Monster Hunter Wilds isn't doing it for you. But to see The Witcher 3 collab events still happening ten years after the troupe's last major outing says a lot about the game's longevity.

For a game that last collaborated with the Delicious in Dungeon anime for its first year anniversary, the inclusion of The Witcher 3 in the sprite-heavy world of Sword of Convallaria soon after is quite the tonal shift.  This one even comes with a soft new anime look for the usually mega-gruff Geralt in a 90-second animated (and dubbed) promo that players are saying "is way better than anything on the Netflix show."

If you're not sure what to expect, well… it's a grid-based strategy game in the vein of Final Fantasy Tactics, and one that released long before we had any real reason to believe the aforementioned classic was coming back with industry bestie Ben Starr as part of its new voice cast. You can just give it a go for nothing. As for how the cast play, Geralt battles with signs, Yennefer employs portals to move enemies around, Triss benefits from jumping between fire and ice magic, and Ciri can blink between foes, boosting her crit damage in the process.

As for how much you might have to throw down to get one of these crossover units, don't jump the sword and think these will all set you back a month's rent. Take it from a guy whose job it is to play free PC games like these. Crossover events typically give at least one of their signature units away for nothing.

For the Sword of Convallaria x The Witcher 3 event, Ciri looks to be the free hook, with the rest being off-banner pulls. That means you won't be pulling from a pool unfairly littered with units not released with this crossover. Collect enough duplicates to max one out, and any more can be exchanged for the ones you're missing. Simply put, if you're starting fresh, there's a decent chance you'll be able to get the lot with the gacha currency you'll accumulate over the course of the event.

The four units from the Sword of Convallaria The Witcher 3 crossover fighting monsters.

Just look at the Sword of Convallaria Steam reviews to see what you're getting into. You'll find the usual "gacha is a blight" comments, sure. But on top of some glowing endorsements for its gameplay and story beats, you'll see others note that it's "pretty generous" and "very F2P friendly." That last one could mean you don't need to open your wallet to clear the campaign, but given that you get the gacha currency for doing so, it can funnel the goods back into grabbing the characters you really want. In this case, Geralt, Yennefer, Triss, and Ciri.

If you think you can swallow any anti-gacha pride for long enough to give this one a go, November 28, 2025 is the day to do it. That's when Geralt and the rest will walk through yet another portal, this time taking them to the world of Sword of Convallaria. At least they're keeping busy.
