Snag a copy of masterful co-op game Warhammer Vermintide 2 free to keep forever, but be quick about it
As if giving us the gift of a brilliant new mission wasn't enough, Warhammer Vermintide 2 developer Fatshark has gone one step further and made the entire game completely free. To keep. That's right, you can get your hands on this Skaven-smashing, Chaos-crashing masterpiece without having to spend a thing. It's never been easier to convince your friends to sign up and find out why it's one of the best co-op games to this day, more than eight years after it first launched.
Fatshark is currently celebrating 'Ten Years of Tide' (going back to the first entry in 2015), and Warhammer Vermintide 2 has been made a free Steam game to celebrate. But I'm here with a plea of my own: don't just add this one to your library and leave it to gather dust. Get your pals in on the deal, round up a crew, and take the Ubersreik Five into action. You won't regret it. In the last few years Fatshark has completely overhauled progression, cutting back the grinder elements while making it more approachable for new players to get started and join in with veterans.

We've also had numerous free maps. Just a few days ago, Fatshark introduced Return to the Reik, a reimagining of one of the most beloved missions from the original Vermintide, revamped, bolstered, and glamored up for the modern era. There's even a double XP event going on through all of next week, so you'll be able to unlock gear and rank up your classes at an especially rapid pace.
If you've ever enjoyed the likes of Left 4 Dead, or tried Warhammer 40k Darktide but haven't dipped into its fantasy cousin, Vermintide 2 is as worth your time now as it was back then, if not more so. I can testify; a group of friends and I took the opportunity to play at the start of this year, following the progression overhaul. While some of us were new and others had played before, we had no trouble getting set up, and it was a welcome reminder that few co-op experiences are as perfectly balanced between chaotic action and a background to catching up with your mates.
Warhammer Vermintide 2 is free to keep on Steam through Sunday November 23. The closing time for the deal may vary by region, so don't take any chances; grab it now while the offer still stands, and make sure to tell your friends as well.
