Resident Evil Requiem leak offers glimmer of hope for Alyssa fans everywhere, and God I hope it's true
Resident Evil Requiem leak offers glimmer of hope for Alyssa fans everywhere, and God I hope it's true
Alyssa Ashcroft is one of Resident Evil's biggest badasses. The no-nonsense journalist has always been my standout from Outbreak's cast, and when Resident Evil Requiem was initially announced I couldn't wait to see her in action once again. There's one problem though… she's dead. If a fresh update from reputable leaker 'Dusk Golem' is anything to go by, though, Alyssa is set to get her own DLC slice.
While Resident Evil Outbreak wasn't the best of the bunch by any means, it was one of my favorite installments in the hit horror series growing up. Though, yes, I played it solo alongside its admittedly awful AI counterparts, I've been praying for a remake ever since Capcom started modernizing its old school offerings. Alyssa was always my go-to, not only due to her being the veritable GOAT, but also because I loved being a little loot goblin, lockpicking my way into every cabinet and locker I came across in search of plunder.

We've already seen Alyssa meet her untimely demise at the very beginning of Resident Evil Requiem as a narrative setup for Grace, wounding me at a spiritual level. The good news, not just for myself but for other Alyssa stans out there, is that this might not be the last we see of her.
According to Dusk Golem on X: "There's definitely at least one DLC for Resident Evil Requiem in development right now. I've heard about it a few times, [and I] believe it stars Alyssa." Hallelujah.

But that's not all they've shared. Though Requiem rose from the ashes of what's broadly known as Resident Evil Apocalypse, a canned multiplayer open-world game that was scrapped shortly after Village's announcement, neither Alyssa nor Grace were set to feature; no second nickel for every multiplayer game featuring Alyssa. Additionally, RE9 likely won't be the last we see of Grace. Dusk Golem says "Capcom hopes she has a future in this franchise. They wouldn't cut her short, they hope people love Grace by the end."
So, not only are we possibly in for more of Resident Evil past, but there's also a chance we've caught a glimpse of the franchise's future. If Ada can survive falling down that shaft in RE2, though, I can imagine the road ahead for Grace will be anything but an easy one.
