Risk of Rain 2 Alloyed Collective DLC drops today, and I will go to war if anything harms my new drone buddies
Risk of Rain 2 today launches its latest major DLC offering, Alloyed Collective. Pitting Riskers against the powerful Solus Units that have risen from the scrap heaps, developer Gearbox has a host of new maps, enemies, and more to shake up your runs in the hit roguelike game. It's not all plight though, as there's a couple of droney homies in it for you, as well as a host of new items.
Risk of Rain 2 had a shaky start to life under Gearbox's development team. Having bought out the rights from Hopoo Games at the end of 2022, its first attempt at a DLC offering, Seekers of the Storm, arrived in a woeful state, replete with bugs, wet noodles for weapons, and other issues. You know, all the usual hallmarks of a botched job. However, after much toiling, its recent Steam reviews sit at a far healthier 'Very Positive.' It may not have gotten it right the first time, but I'm confident the studio won't repeat last year's disaster.
Headlining Risk of Rain 2 Alloyed Collective, we have two new survivors - well, one factory fresh and one lightly used survivor - in the form of Operator and Drifter. Taking his design cues from the new drones you'll find in Alloyed Collective, Operator's kit is all about utilizing his little droney companions to either CC enemies or provide extra utility for himself. I've only known Operator's drones for a few minutes, but I will curse the bloodlines of anything that hurts them.

Making a grand comeback from Risk of Rain Returns, Drifter has had a few key ability tweaks in the process of bringing her into the 3D realm. As was the case in RoRR, though, you'll still need to manage her Junk resource to get the most out of her.
Elsewhere in Alloyed Collective, you've got six new stages to explore. These include the maze-like Pretender's Precipice, the mining outpost Iron Alluvium, the narrow, power cable-lined walls of Conduit Canyon, and Repurposed Crater which, shockingly, is just a massive crater, albeit with a big ol' fortress inside. I'm no mathematician, but by my napkin math that's about a 25% increase in the number of stages available.
Seven certainly seems to be the lucky number for Alloyed Collective, as you'll be fortunate enough to command seven new drones that promise "wild" abilities to augment your survivors with. Perhaps less fortunately, you'll also have to face off against seven new Solus creations. Oh, and a couple of new bosses have been thrown in for good measure.
Risk of Rain 2 Alloyed Collective launches on Steam today for a suggested retail price of $14.99. Check out the Alloyed Collective store page for more.
Gearbox says that the DLC's final encounter "reshapes the endgame," so now's the time to grab your fellow Riskers, load up on some of the 15 new items you can add to your arsenal, and jump back in. The good news is that only one player needs to cough up the cash, so be sure to split the bill if you and your bestie are planning on running it together.
