Potential Silent Hill Townfall release date leak surfaces, and it's taught me something new about my homeland

Konami's certainly been putting the 'Silent' in Silent Hill Townfall. Having been announced all the way back in October 2022, we've somehow managed to go three years without hearing a peep about it beyond its initial teaser trailer. Typically, a marketing cycle will gradually showcase progressively more expansive snippets of a game, before slapping a release date on it. One Mexican retail chain has seemingly missed the memo on its now-deleted Townfall listing.

Until today, I never realized how strong the connection between Mexico and the British port city of Liverpool was. To be fair, there's a lot to like about Liverpool. It spawned The Beatles, The Wombats, and PCGamesN's very own Ben Sledge and Paul Kelly. The Royal Albert Dock is also sound if you love a good museum. As it transpires, Liverpool is also a huge department store chain in Mexico - the equivalent of Sears - taking its name directly from the land of Scouse due to importing the lion's share of its goods from there when it first opened in the mid-19th Century.

Okay, that's my history lesson for the day (I need to use that degree for something, I 'spose). As for the actual news, Liverpool's now-deleted Townfall listing noted a March 26, 2026 release date, which has quickly circulated online. It's even been reposted by prominent Silent Hill community figure Rachel Ashmun, so there's perhaps a veneer of veracity there; March 26 is not a typical placeholder date by any means.

It would certainly be fortuitous timing for a little (major) leak to start circulating. The Silent Hill 2 remake is rumored to be making an appearance at this week's Xbox showcase, prompting speculation that we might get a two-for-one deal on Silent Hill reveals.

Silent Hill Townfall is shaping up to be the convergence of a decade-long chunk of industry lore. Ostensibly born from the canned Playable Teaser (P.T.)., Townfall is widely expected to be a fresh crack at the episodic format from Konami, considering it's helmed by Scottish studio Screen Burn (formerly No Code). Starring Norman Reedus, 2014's P.T. was developed by Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro; it's effectively Death Stranding's origin story. The 'empty room door in the background' shot we've seen in the trailers for Kojima Production's upcoming OD is also incredibly redolent of P.T.'s opening, so there's a nice parallel there, too.

Whether we'll see anything from Townfall soon remains to be seen. The last Silent Hill Transmission aired in March, focusing mostly on Silent Hill f. If Townfall's as close to the finish line as this new leak suggests, then I wouldn't be surprised to see a more substantial showcase soon.
