Nvidia is giving away a free Doom The Dark Ages RTX 5090, but you'll need to show you're worthy

The gates of hell are open, but there's no need for a shield this time, as unleashed onto this mortal plane is not a demonic entity but just a roasty toasty GPU in the shape of the fearsomely powerful Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090. Clad in the colors and imagery of Doom: The Dark Ages, this Founders Edition card could be yours if you can prove you're worthy of it.

Nvidia's latest graphics card giveaway puts at your fingertips the single best graphics card money can buy right now. As we explored in our RTX 5090 review, this monster of a GPU can lay waste to any current game, even in its most extreme settings, delivering high frame rates at 4K with ray tracing. With a price tag of $2,000, though, if there's a graphics card you want to win for free right now, it's this one.

Nvidia has given away a couple of these Doom: The Dark Ages cards before, so there's nothing revelatory about the specific card. It's simply a Founders Edition version with some neat Doom: The Dark Ages stickers/wraps over the flat sections of the card. It looks great largely because the RTX 5090 FE already looks pretty damn good with its impressively slim two-slot cooler, but the stickers certainly add some flare.

One factor to bear in mind, if you're tempted by this competition, is that you'll need a strong enough power supply to feed this card. It needs to be rated to 1000W or over, so while the GPU might come for free, you may need to spend a little extra to get it up and running.

Similarly, although it's a surprisingly slim graphics card, it is still quite long and tall, so you'll need to check that your case has space. Still, if the option's winning a $2,000 graphics card and then having to spend $200 on a case or PSU, or missing out on a $2,000 graphics card, I know which I'd go for. If you are unlucky, though, you can always opt for a card such as the RTX 5060. It's far more limited but still gets you access to Nvidia's latest GPU architecture, including support for DLSS 4 multi-frame gen.

To be in with a chance of nabbing this prize, all you need to do is reply to this post on Nvidia GeForce's X (formerly Twitter) account, convincing the social media team why you deserve the card. That's quite a vague ask, but we'd suggest a mention of your dedication to Nvidia GPUs and how much you love Doom might stand you in good stead.
