Black Ops 7 Zombies world first race ends in chaos as winner declares his run "does not count"

The Call of Duty Black Ops 7 Zombies world first race has come to an end in chaotic fashion as its leading team discounts their victory. Many players were in competition to see who could figure out the full Black Ops 7 Ashes of the Damned easter egg, and unlock the ability for everyone to play Cursed mode in the process. However, the group that came in first ran into a bug causing one member to be completely ignored by enemies, essentially making them immune to trouble. The person in question was Call of Duty YouTuber Milo, known best as 'MrRoflWaffles,' and he says the issue should disqualify them from the race.

Black Ops 7's take on Zombies has kicked off with one of its most complex easter eggs yet. In case you're unfamiliar with these, they're an intricate series of hidden steps that must be deciphered and completed to reveal the true story of what's happening on each of the Black Ops 7 Zombies maps. Past incarnations have seen us rescuing trapped time travellers, transforming into beasts, and even transferring player consciousness between bodies; they're wild, weird, and a big part of why I consider Treyarch's creations among the best zombie games around.

In an unfortunate stroke of luck for Milo's team, a bug a couple of hours into his successful run made him seemingly invisible to all hostile threats. That's quite a game-breaking glitch, and gave him almost entirely safe passage through the full progression. Milo notes, "I tried to make sure my teammates were left to their own devices," but he acknowledges that it threw the validity of the completion into question, and says he does not want world-first recognition. "My completion does not count," Milo clearly states following the run. "I don't want to hear anybody being like, 'No, no' - my completion does not count. You will not be pinning the 'first in the world' badge on me, okay?" While he acknowledges that his team was first to finish the easter egg, "the glitch in the game, which happened like four hours ago, was present. So yes, we completed it before other people, but did other people have a game-breaking bug? No."

Indeed, he asks Treyarch directly to unlock Cursed mode - a reward promised to all players once the world-first completion was in the books - only after the success of a second team. While the developer didn't directly confirm that it had followed these wishes, it did send out a message announcing the victory about an hour later, with the timing matching up to another group, led by 'NoahJ456,' managing to reach the end. I'm choosing to believe that Milo's request was quietly granted.

Treyarch has also since rolled out a new Black Ops 7 update that addresses "a rare issue that could cause enemies to begin ignoring players in Zombies." That sounds like our troublemaker, so hopefully we've seen the last of it. The damage might have been done, but at least now you're free to go back to figuring out the best Black Ops 7 Zombies Perk-A-Colas and working out where the Black Ops 7 Wonder Weapons can be found.
