Yes, you really can buy a 144Hz, 27-inch gaming monitor from LG for just $89 right now

If you're on the on the lookout for a budget gaming monitor, this discounted LG display is one of the best deals I've ever seen. With a massive 47% off, this 27-inch gaming monitor delivers a speedy 144Hz refresh rate, a 1080p resolution, and the great viewing angles of an IPS LCD panel, all for just $89.

While I'd never claim an entry-level display like this is going to be the best gaming monitor you've ever set eyes on, LG delivers reliably good monitors. For a first gaming PC or filling out your multi-monitor setup (it would be ideal as a low-cost side display for a triple-monitor racing sim rig, for instance), there's hardly a better value option out there at the moment. Who needs Black Friday deals, hey?

The model available in this deal is the LG 27G411A-B. This slim, sleek, and smart-looking panel has small bezels - again ideal for a multi-monitor setup - and, although it ships with a stand that doesn't offer any height, rotation, or pivot adjustment, it includes a VESA mount that means you can fit it to basically any monitor arm.

Along with its core specs of a 27-inch IPS panel with a FHD resolution and a 144Hz maximum refresh rate, this display boasts a 1ms minimum response time and 5ms gray-to-gray response time, which, while not blazing-fast, should ensure the panel's pixels change fast enough to keep up with the 144Hz refresh rate. Note, the display defaults to 120Hz but can be overclocked to 144Hz. I've never encountered a display that can't hit its claimed overclocked speed, though, so you can effectively take this as it being a 144Hz panel.

Along with ensuring you get a speedy image and the excellent viewing angles that are the hallmark of an IPS panel - you can read about the difference between LCD panel types in our IPS vs TN vs VA guide - this display also includes AMD Freesync support and is G-Sync Compatible. This means that the display can sync its refresh rate with the frame rate of your graphics card, eliminating image tearing and frame stutter.

LG somewhat vaguely claims this display can hit "over 99% sRGB coverage," without saying how far over it can go. But what that ultimately means is that, unlike some older entry-level gaming monitors, this one can display the full range of standard colors used by computers. It can't offer dazzling HDR (though it does support HDR 10) and only has a maximum brightness of 250cd/m2, but you can't have everything at this price.

Inputs consist of one DisplayPort 1.4 and one HDMI, along with a headphone jack. Other little extras include a flicker-free backlight, reader mode, an on-screen crosshair, and an FPS counter.

To take advantage of the $80 saving on this display that normally costs $169, just head over to Walmart via this link. No coupons required.
