Where Winds Meet tier list - best weapons, martial arts, and class combinations

What's the Where Winds Meet tier list or best classes and weapons? Maybe you're struggling against a particular boss and don't have any NPCs to call in. Whatever the reason, with close to a dozen different weapons and room to switch between two at a moment's notice, how you choose to build your ancient Chinese hero will play a big part in how you group up in online and co-op play or tackle challenges on your own.

Where Winds Meet is a martial arts action-adventure game. And while you can play it entirely on your lonesome, Where Winds Meet co-op multiplayer options open up its trickier boss fights for multiple people to tackle. That means WWM builds and the best weapons begin to make sense. And if the healer role is calling, you'll want to unlock the Panacea Fan before hopping online.

A build in Where Winds Meet.

Here's a basic look at how each weapon in Where Winds Meet fits into a tier list at launch:

Tier Weapon
S Panacea Fan, Heavenquaker Spear, Infernal Twinblades
A Stormbreaker Spear, Strategic Sword, Vernal Umbrella,
B Nameless Sword, Thundercry Blade, Soulshade Umbrella
C Nameless Spear, Mortal Rope Dart

Not sure how to make heads or tails of the table above? A build in Where Winds Meet is comprised of the following:

  • Two Martial Arts (weapon types)
  • Four Internal Arts
  • Eight Mystic Arts
  • Gear (including your specific stat-boosting weapons)
  • Arsenal Path

How you choose to combine those options results in what can be considered your Where Winds Meet build, which, in turn, symbolizes the role you'll play in online and co-op play: tank, healer, melee DPS, or ranged DPS.

With two weapons (or Martial Arts) able to be equipped at once, it's tricky to grade each into a traditional Where Winds Meet tier list. Instead, we deconstructed the most versatile builds in the game to find the best Where Winds Meet weapons based on their general adaptability, resulting in the tier list above.

For that reason, it's best not to dwell on the specifics. Pick the weapons that suit your playstyle, but we've broken down key weapon combinations below and listed how they're typically used in the game.

Path Boss Arena AoE
Bellstrike - Splendor (melee DPS) Yes Yes No
Bellstirke - Umbra (melee DPS) Yes No Yes
Stonesplit - Might (melee Tank) Yes No Yes
Silkbind - Jade (ranged DPS) Yes Yes No
Bamboocut - Wind (melee DPS) Yes Yes No
Sinkbind - Deluge (ranged Healer) Yes No No

Here's a brief explainer of how each weapon combination works best and how you can expect battles to play out online:

The Bellstrike - Splendor build in Where Winds Meet.

Bellstrike - Splendor

Weapons: Nameless Sword / Nameless Spear

Using the two Nameless weapons, the Nameless Sword and Nameless Spear, this build uses the Bellstrike Arsenal to maintain high mobility and single-target pressure.

Fast movements are its forté, making it a great all-rounder against bosses thanks to decent endurance management and adaptability.

If you're going solo against a slower boss, rapid repositioning will help you avoid damage and exploit your foe's weaknesses.

Bellstirke - Umbra (melee DPS)

Weapons: Strategic Sword / Heavenquake Spear

A slight evolution over the Nameless build, Bellstrike - Umbra uses the Strategic Sword and Heavequaker Spear to deal sustained damage over time.

Ever-increasing bleeds make it an excellent build against bosses, who'll generally keep taking damage while you dodge their biggest moves. The long reach of the spear makes it a great wave or camp-clearing build, too.

The Stonesplit - Might build in Where Winds Meet.

Stonesplit - Might (melee Tank)

Weapons: Thundercry Blade / Stormbreaker Speak

Utilizing the Thundercry Blade and Stormbreaker Spear, the Stonesplit - Might build in Where Winds Meet focuses on shield uptime and taunts to keep a key target pounding your blades versus bashing in the skulls of your allies.

It's a high-pressure kind of role that, similarly to the Bellstrike - Umbra build, can use the long range of its spear to make quick work of camps as well, and is a good option for solo players who struggle to time blocks, dodges, and parries.

Silkbind - Jade (ranged DPS)

Weapons: Inkwell Fan / Vernal Umbrella

For those who want to attack from afar (most of the time) without relying on a largely non-existent archer build, the Silkbind - Jade combination works a treat.

It mixes the DPS options of the two healer weapons, so the Inkwell Fan and Vernal Umbrella, to create a sustained ranged DPS offensive option with room for airborne attacks and heavy burst damage when needed.

You'll obviously shed the healing skills, making it almost bottom of the barrel when it comes to support and survivability, but you can attack from a safe distance. Again, most of the time.

Bamboocut - Wind (melee DPS)

Weapons: Infernal Twinblades / Mortal Rope Dart

For rapid strikes and fans of mashing buttons, the Bamboocut - Wind build is an exhilarating option.

It uses the Infernal Twinblades and Mortal Rope Dart to maintain high-damage combos with extreme mobility. It plays light and loose with support and general survivability, making it somewhat of a glass cannon build, but there are some control options available.

Just consider keeping them on hold to make a swift escape versus creating an opportunity for an onslaught. Unless said onslaught will end the fight, of course.

The Silkbind - Deluge build in Where Winds Meet.

Sinkbind - Deluge (ranged Healer)

Weapons: Panacea Fan / Soulshade Umbrella

Lastly, the only real option for healers or ranged attackers looking to play it as safe as possible is the Silkbind - Deluge combination.

Having two healing weapons to hand means having a never-ending spray of restorative mists to keep you and your allies in the fight.

The upside is how the Echoes of a Thousand Plants skill from the Soulshade Umbrella supplies passive healing, letting you pitch in with chip damage (or even more healing in a pinch) as the situation changes.

And that should be everything you need to know about the best weapons in Where Winds Meet. If you're looking for another role-based online multiplayer game, you might want to check out the best MMORPGs around today.
