Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 ends with an ambitious final DLC beffitting of Warhorse's epic medieval RPG

All good things have to come to an end. Silksong hype. Witcher 3 expansions. Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodhunt (okay, maybe I'm alone on that one). To quote Coven Morgana from League of Legends, "death is not the end, but a whole new beginning," even if she's referring to ritualized human sacrifice. And so too does Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 close out a spectacular run: it's final DLC, Mysteria Ecclesiaem, has arrived, capping off Henry of Skalitz medieval adventures. The RPG has received three DLCs in less than a year, and this is, supposedly, the last one we'll see. As Warhorse turns its eyes to the future, we turn ours to the past, with Mysteria Ecclesiae thrusting us into a brand new, plague-ridden mystery.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2's final story missions ship Henry off to Sedletz Monastery, where there's been an outbreak of what appears to be a deadly virus. Jamie questioned Warhorse on its latest chapter back at Gamescom, with community manager Tobias Stolz-Zwilling telling him that Mysteria Ecclesiae will see you "cure medieval COVID," as the monastery "opens up for you."

Similar in size to Legacy of the Forge, it offers a meatier story than Brushes with Death, and you won't be "blocked in the monastery" this time around, allowing you to explore at your leisure while you unravel the eponymous 'mysteria.'

There's a new outfit up for grabs, as well as weapons, books, and, of course, potions. This DLC has a focus on alchemy and medicine, so knowledge is king here, not pure force. Although, if any of those pesky monks get up to mischief, a quick bop with your new gear will likely set them straight.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2's final DLC, Mysteria Ecclesiae, is out now. You can pick it up for $13.99 / £11.49 on Steam here. If you've been holding off for a discount on the base game, I have good news. KCD2 is 40% off until Thursday November 13, bringing it down to $35.99 / £29.99. That's not bad for one of this year's top games, especially given the sheer size and scale of it.

Stolz-Zwilling tells Jamie that, while Warhorse "wants to call it a day there; at least finish Henry's story," it "doesn't mean that the Kingdom Come Deliverance IP is over forever," so that softens the blow slightly. Given the game's mammoth success, I suspect we'll see a Kingdom Come Deliverance 3 at some point down the line, and if not that, perhaps a DLC series focusing on another character's story. I don't know, folks, it feels like there's something else out there, and I really can't wait to see what that is.
