Before Requiem, grab the brilliant Resident Evil 4 remake at its cheapest price ever

As someone who loves the entirety of Capcom's beloved survival horror series (I even played the VR version of the fourth game), I'd say the Resident Evil 4 remake isn't just a revitalization of a horror classic, but an improvement on one of the most groundbreaking games ever made. However, the dreary atmosphere of the original has lost some of its fear factor, not only because of its action focus but also because of its older visuals. Fortunately, the remake brings it back into the modern era, bringing one of the best horror games back to its full glory, and you can score a copy at its cheapest price - right before Requiem finally launches.

While the next two games fall more into the action category, the original and the Resident Evil 4 remake both strike a balance of creepy situations and gun-slinging combat. For every chainsaw-wielding maniac that chases after you, there's a giant lake monster that requires a seemingly endless amount of bullets to deal with. The game offers a perfect blend of the terrifying and the bizarre, capturing the endearing magic of Resident Evil in the process.

Much like the 2005 game, the Resident Evil 4 remake sees you play as Leon, who fans will recognise from the second game, in an attempt to save the US president's daughter (not Ivanka Trump, but a woman called Ashley) from a religious cult in rural Spain. The focus remains on saving Ashley from the villagers-turned-villains, but as always for this series, there are larger stakes here than it first seems.

It also captures that same incredible over-the-shoulder gameplay that the other two remakes used, but since the original RE4 was built around the same kind of setup, it works a little better here. The intense QTEs that see you wield a knife against a chainsaw are silly, yet terrifying, while shooting your last bullets into the remaining enemy is intense and engaging.

Ed Smith's 8/10 Resident Evil 4 remake review puts it in the best way, saying that "Resident Evil 4 Remake improves on the visuals, mechanics, and moment-to-moment experience of one of the best games ever made." It tiptoes a very fine line, managing to keep the core experience intact, while bringing it to modern audiences in almost the exact way I felt I experienced it 20 years ago.

If you're looking to give this brilliant game a try before the Resident Evil 9 Requiem release date (which isn't far away, thankfully), you can grab Resident Evil 4 remake for just $16.79 / £14.69 at Fanatical, the cheapest price it's ever been. Halloween is over, sure, but there's never a bad time to play a Resident Evil title.

However, you'll need to be quick if you want to pick it up, as this Resident Evil 4 remake deal ends on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at 4pm PT / 7pm ET or at 12am GMT on Monday, November 17, 2025 for those Brits out there.
