Ahead of its ambitious sequel, you can save 65% on one of the most realistic and immersive WW2 shooters ever

Fans of some of the biggest and best FPS games can be a bit judgy about those that like different flavors of shooter experiences. 'Call of Duty is just mainstream slop,' the hardcore crowd cries. 'You've gotta be a sadist to play Escape From Tarkov,' the more casual players respond. Some, like myself, are open to absolutely anything that involves a bit of competition and some satisfying gunplay, and if you're willing to lean more into the hardcore end of the spectrum, you can't get much better than Hell Let Loose. A super realistic WW2 shooter that gives you the chance to become the commander of an entire 50-player squad, it's super cheap right now. This is also a good time to get acquainted, as its Vietnam-bound sequel arrives next year as well.

If you're a sucker for historical accuracy and enjoy the challenge of a precise, strategic FPS, there's a good chance Hell Let Loose is already on your radar. Well, here's a good chance to finally pull the trigger on it. While excellent aim is helpful in any shooter, being victorious in its enormous, 50v50 battles is just as dependent on communication, coordination, and smart plays versus just charging into combat like you would in, say, Battlefield 6.

The impressive lineup of maps will take you all across Europe, from the Eastern to the Western Front, while also dipping into North Africa as well. There are over a dozen roles that you can play with a few bespoke loadouts available for each of them. You can assist your squad's snipers as a spotter, tend to those on the frontline as a medic, play as an anti-tank specialist, and much more.

The coolest role of them all, though, is the commander. Only one player per team can take this role, so you won't get the privilege frequently. But when you do, you become the leader of the entire army. It's your job to coordinate squads so that they're attacking and defending objectives effectively, but you've also got several powerful abilities that you can deploy to help shift the tide or protect a lead. You can deploy vehicles, send in airdrops of supplies, increase the amount of resources given at nodes for a brief period of time, or call in devastating air strikes.

Even if you're not the biggest fan of a World War 2 setting, Hell Let Loose will certainly get you in its clutches if you give it some time. Maybe the jungles of Vietnam are more your thing? Well, Hell Let Loose 2 heads there next year, and from what I saw at Gamescom earlier this year, it's shaping up to be even better. So, with the first game super cheap at the moment, this is a good opportunity to get acquainted.

Over on Fanatical, you can get a Steam key for Hell Let Loose for just $17.49 / £17.49, which is a saving of 65%. If you head to its page using the widget below, you'll also find that there are slightly larger discounts of 66% and 68% on the Deluxe and Ultimate editions of the game too. For those in the UK, that discount actually makes the Deluxe cheaper than the standard version at £16.99, but regardless of currency, the chunkier editions are probably worth getting seeing as they're all so close in price.

So, go and give Hell Let Loose a spin if you're looking for a tactical, realistic, and incredibly immersive shooter, and keep those eyes peeled for more news on the upcoming sequel - it looks even more spectacular.
