Dungeons and Dragons adventure Solasta 2 has just tightened its launch window, so get planning your class now
Whether Baldur's Gate 3 was your first foray into the world of digital D&D, or you're a long-time dice roller, Solasta 2 should be marked on your calendar. Its predecessor, Solasta: Crown of the Magister, remains one of the best DnD games on PC that isn't called Baldur's Gate, and developer Tactical Adventures has just given us a clearer picture of when we'll be able to play the first early-access iteration of its new RPG, along with a summary of what features and classes we'll be able to choose from on day one.
The Solasta 2 team recently unveiled its hex-based world map, which you can see in the video below, as part of a gradual rollout of teasers. However, Tactical Adventures says it's had a lot of questions about the vague 'early 2026' estimate for release, and gives us official confirmation that the upcoming PC game will launch in the first quarter of the year. To further clarify, it says this means we can expect the game to arrive between Thursday January 1 and Tuesday March 31, 2026.

While we don't get an exact date, it's nice to be able to start planning out my gaming calendar for next year. I'm actually quite eager to get hands on with Solasta 2 early access; let's keep in mind that the lengthy, open development process for Baldur's Gate 3 honed Larian's creation into something truly unforgettable. Will's first hands-on experience with Solasta 2 already has me hopeful that Tactical Adventures can deliver something with the substance to match the style of its reveal trailer.
The developer says that early access "will feature more than ten hours of gameplay and a max level cap of four, with access to the character creator to build a full party." On day one, there will be six classes to choose from (Wizard, Sorcerer, Paladin, Fighter, Rogue, and Cleric), and four ancestries (Human, Elf, Dwarf, and Halfling). "And yes, you will be able to multiclass," it adds.
While it makes no promises yet, Tactical Adventures says it is aiming to have "all the classic tabletop classes" available by the 1.0 launch, with new ones rolling out over the early access period. So if your favorite of the D&D classes isn't here yet, don't worry. Co-op multiplayer will also be coming as an early-access update, "so we have more time to fine-tune it before the 1.0 release of the game."
Also available from the start of early access is 'ready action,' which was a popular feature in the original Solasta. This allows you to prepare many actions during a character's turn that they can't use right now but you're anticipating them being able to soon - think a Fighter bracing to launch an attack on an incoming enemy, or a Cleric preparing a Cure Wounds spell to immediately deploy it on a wounded ally as they approach. It expands the tactical options at your disposal, so I'm glad it's coming sooner rather than later.
Tactical Adventures explains that it's "among the many reasons why we moved the release date back a bit as it's a costly feature that we originally planned for 1.0, but after going through the demo feedback decided to implement in early access instead." The good news is that we can expect a more substantial offering this time; where Crown of the Magister only allowed the preparation of melee attacks, ranged attacks, and cantrips, Solasta 2's 'ready action' "can be triggered with most actions."
Finally, Tactical Adventures confirms there will be a $10 supporter pack that's available alongside the launch edition of Solasta 2. "Just like in Solasta 1, we want to remind everyone that this DLC is absolutely not mandatory, and is just there if you want to give our relatively small team a tip," it writes. "There is very little value in getting it for the content, which will be a few cosmetic items. While they will look very cool, they will not impact your gameplay in any way."
Solasta 2 will launch into early access in the first quarter of 2026, between Thursday January 1 and Tuesday March 31, 2026. You can download a free demo to try a first taste of it now, or add it to your Steam wishlist.
