New Dying Light The Beast update makes your enemies value their lives more, but you don't have to accept their surrender
A new Dying Light The Beast update has made its human enemies smarter and more self-preserving than ever, and you'll even be able to cause them to surrender if you've got a clear advantage in a fight. Dying Light The Beast patch 1.3 also includes the latest set of community challenges, extra weapon finishers, and various other stability improvements. On top of that, there's a crossover event with PUBG, and developer Techland even has some Halloween happenings on the go in Dying Light 2, for good measure.
Dying Light The Beast update 1.3 responds to player calls for smarter human enemies with the introduction of new behaviors. "Dying Light was always about reactivity and making the world respond naturally to your every move," Techland writes, and while it's one of the best zombie games this year, having to face more intelligent foes keeps you on your toes. With the patch, people carrying melee weapons will now recognize if you're pointing a firearm at them and can choose to surrender rather than fight on.
"Depending on your actions, this scenario can unfold in a number of ways," Techland teases, "but we'll leave them for you to discover." I'm going to suggest that you don't necessarily need to acquiesce to their request for mercy, however, because the studio also announces, "We've added nine thrilling new finishers for different weapon variants." These flashy, brutal executions range across a wide range of melee options, so you'll want to experiment with all your best Dying Light The Beast weapons to find them.

Along with the new patch comes the third week of the ongoing 'Call of the Beast' community challenges. This week's all about landing accurate shots from firearms; if players reach a collective ten million then we'll get the Marksman car skin, and at 20 million we'll unlock the Bullseye rifle. There's also a crossover event with PUBG Mobile, which you'll find via the Dying Light Outpost event page.
If that's still not enough, you can head over to Dying Light 2 for a Halloween Showdown event, which is running from Thursday October 30 through Thursday November 20. Villedor has been decorated for the occasion, and you'll be collecting candies from fallen monsters. Cash these in via Baka at the Bazaar or in the Tower Raid hub, and you'll earn faction-themed weapons and charms for reaching weekly targets.
