Chaos Zero Nightmare tier list - best characters and reroll

Chaos Zero Nightmare tier list - best characters and reroll
What is the Chaos Zero Nightmare tier list of the best characters? With dozens of characters available on the first day, building the best Chaos Zero Nightmare teams is a loaded question. Gruesome turn-based battles with plenty of deck-building elements mean strategy and luck come in equal measure, and starting with the best Chaos Zero Nightmare characters can go a long way in ensuring your survival.
Chaos Zero Nightmare is a free-to-play, turn-based roguelike game with deck-building elements. Think of it as a homage to Darkest Dungeon, and you're on the right lines. If you're itching to pull for the best characters, Chaos Zero Nightmare codes might get you what you need to get who you want from the CZN tier list. Otherwise, check out this month's other big gacha release with the Stella Sora codes.
Here's how the Chaos Zero Nightmare tier list stacks up for launch:
Tier | Characters |
S | Khalipe, Hugo, Mika |
A | Rin, Veronica, Haru, Orlea, Kayron, Magna, Nia, Lucas, Maribell |
B | Mei Lin, Cassius, Selena, Renoa, Luke |
F | Tressa, Beryl, Rei, Owen, Amir |
The most surprising part of the Chaos Zero Nightmare tier list at launch is the slightly underwhelming performance of the first featured banner character-Haru. Though entirely servicable in basically any team, she struggles to make it as an S-tier unit due to relatively lacklustre scaling at higher levels.
Thankfully, Mika, a starter four-star character who also happens to appear as a rate-up character on Haru's banner, is a much easier get, making the banner very much worth pulling on regardless of the outcome. Because of her easy upgrade routes and stellar healing and control potential, Mika is a staple in almost any team.
Mika sits comfortably alongside Hugo and Khalipe to form one of the tightest teams possible. Khalipe offers top-tier defense as a tanky Vanguard. At the same time, Hugo brings huge ranged damage potential, leaving Mika's powerful heals and Exhaust powers as a Controller to keep the damage-focused team pushing ahead uncontested.
At the very bottom of the list is another surprise. The pre-registration reward, Amir, is one of the worst-performing characters in the game. Though certainly capable of pushing through the opening chapters with a little investment, her skills on the battlefield quickly run dry as you hit higher tiers of play.
Upgrade materials only become harder to find as the game goes on. Invest in any sub-par character early, and there's a strong chance you'll regret it sooner rather than later. As a Vanguard, Amir slots in well with the starting roster. Just don't expect her to stick around. Pull Khalipe, for example, and you might never need another tank.
How to reroll in Chaos Zero Nightmare - who should you reroll for?
You're good to reroll in Chaos Zero Nightmare once you reach the Lobby menu. This can take upward of an hour on your first go, but familiarity with the early battles will speed up subsequent runs.
To reroll in Chaos Zero Nightmare, you just have to claim in-game mail rewards, like pre-registration goodies and compensation, and take those to the Rescue page. With six banners going on at once, two of which only feature non-playable Partners, you'll want to ensure you're pulling from the right banner.
For rerolls, we suggest avoiding the limited-time banner. Though you can get slightly more pulls from this one due to its discounted rate, you won't build up to a guaranteed five-star of your choosing, which can make things harder long-term.
If you're thinking short term, however, go ahead with the limited-time banner. You should have enough Rescue Anchors and Crystals from launch rewards, achievements, and account level rewards to complete all 50 pulls, netting you a random five-star character.
With Partner characters only reaching four-star rarity, you're guaranteed to get one of the following five-star units after 50 pulls in the new account banner:
Rating | Unit |
Great | Khalipe, Hugo |
Good | Magna, Rin, Orlea, Mei Lin, Veronica |
Ok | Luke, Renoa, Kayron |
We've graded each potential pull in accordance with the Chaos Zero Nightmare tier list. If you're particular about pulling only the best characters, use it as a guideline to decide whether or not to reroll after your first 50 pulls.
We've given special consideration to Vanguard and Controller units as they're both harder to come by and massively beneficial to the starting team. With a Chaos Zero Nightmare reroll attempt, you want a balanced team with a tank, healer, and damage dealer from the S or A tiers. Their rarity doesn't matter: it's already been accounted for in their placements. At the end of the day, take what you can get.
If you're not happy with your first set of pulls in Chaos Zero Nightmare, head back to Lobby, Main Menu, Settings, Account Settings, and click the red Delete Account button.
Follow the instructions to remove your save, and you'll be kicked back to the login screen. Make a new account and repeat the process until you get the five-star character you want, or a team you're otherwise happy with.
