Deals to upgrade your M4 Mac mini
Apple's M4 Mac mini is far and away the best bang for your buck if you're in the market for a new computer.
Apple's M4 Silicone chipset is its most powerful yet and if you snagged the deal that Mashable wrote about a few weeks ago, you got yourself a new Mac mini for less than $500. (The $100 off deal is still available for Prime Day, by the way!)
However, there is one major drawback. The base model M4 Mac mini only has 256GB of SSD storage space. Want to double the storage capacity to 512GB? You'll lose out on the $499 deal and find yourself paying the $799 retail price for the next model up. That's $300 more for 512GB total.
What if I told you there's a way better deal, and you can add a whopping 4TB of SSD storage space to your Mac mini? Because there is. And Prime Day lowers that better deal's price even more.
Currently, for Prime Big Deal Days, Amazon has the Samsung 990 EVO Plus 4TB SSD for sale for $199.99. Amazon says that's 39% off the listing price of $327.99. But, the less than $200 price for Prime Day is also around $50 less than the Samsung 990 EVO Plus 4TB SSD usually retails for when it's on sale. You can also snag the 1TB option for just $59.99, which is 43% off the listing price.
The Samsung 990 EVO Plus SSDs won't just boost your Mac's storage, but also how fast it is as well with read/write speeds up to 7,250/6,300MB/s. If you're editing video, creating animations, or developing apps, this internal SSD will perform better than most.
You might have heard that Apple Mac minis do not have upgradeable storage. And that's true. You can't open your Mac mini and install this internal SSD. But there is a workaround, and it's also on sale for Prime Day.
The Satechi Mac mini M4 Hub was released earlier this year, which basically works as a dock for your Mac mini, adding additional USB ports as well as an SD card reader. It also notably adds an NVMe SSD enclosure. Just pop your Samsung 990 EVO Plus 4TB SSD in the Satechi Mac mini M4 Hub and the drive appears on your Mac just like any other drive. I use this exact setup for my own personal Mac mini and it works flawlessly.
