Want to play Elden Ring Nightreign solo? Elden Ring is one of the greatest RPGs of all time, and while it features multiplayer elements, for the majority of people, it's largely a single-player game. Nightreign is entirely different from its predecessor, focusing mainly on co-operative play, but there is a way to play all on your own.

Elden Ring Nightreign has been designed as a co-op game experience first and foremost, so as we point out in our Nightreign review, we don't recommend picking this game up if you hope to play entirely on your own. While you can attempt to go on expeditions as a lone adventurer, you're going to have a tough time unless you put in the work to overcome the game's excruciating difficulty. Here's what you need to know about how to play Elden Ring Nightreign solo.

Setting up Elden Ring Nightreign solo

Whether you've checked the Elden Ring Nightreign server status to find the servers are down, or your mates are unavailable to play, you do have the option to go it alone and brave the harsh world of Limgrave. Be warned that the game is considerably more difficult when played on your own. Grouping up with people you know is highly encouraged if you want to make your way through all the Elden Ring Nightreign bosses.

Here's what you need to do to play Elden Ring Nightreign solo:

• At the Roundtable Hold, head to the middle and select the 'commence expedition' option.
• When the menu appears showing the Night Lord targets, hit F2/RB/R1 to bring up the Matchmaking Settings tab.
• From here, scroll down to the bottom of the list where it says 'Expedition Type', then change the option from 'Multiplayer' to 'Single Player'.
• When you go back to the Target tab, you should see the option to 'Commence Solo Expedition', skipping the matchmaking process entirely as you go it alone.

As you'll soon discover, Nightreign barely makes any changes to accommodate for solo players, so enemies deal the same damage as they would when you're grouped up with two additional people. The only real way around this is to play cautiously, don't take on more than you can handle. If you haven't picked one of the Elden Ring Nightreign classes suited to fighting groups of enemies, try to lure each enemy to you to fight in 1v1 combat.

The same tips apply to playing solo as they do when you're playing in a group, be sure to study the Elden Ring Nightreign map to maximize your flask charges and gain numerous level ups on each expedition day.
