A new Asus ROG NUC mini gaming PC is on its way, with specs that might make it a little more affordable than its top-spec model. The Asus ROG NUC 15 Performance has just been unveiled by the company, featuring specs that include laptop Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 and RTX 5060 gaming GPUs, depending on the model, along with a 24-core Intel gaming CPU.

Since Intel unloaded the NUC lineup onto Asus, the latter has been putting its own stamp on the market, with specs that make them among the best mini gaming PC options out there. However, with prices exceeding $2,000, a more affordable ROG NUC with the latest mid-tier Nvidia GPUs would be a welcome addition for gamers.

Asus ROG NUC 15 Performance chassis

The new NUC 15 Performance will use the same three-liter chassis shape as the new 2025 Asus ROG NUC, although it lacks the ROG logo on the side. According to Asus, it'll ship with either an RTX 5070 or RTX 5060 GPU, along with an Intel Core Ultra 7 255HX or Core Ultra 9 275K CPU, both with 24 cores. It has two RAM slots, suitable for either 16GB (2 x 8GB) or 32GB (2 x 16GB) of DDR-6400 SODIMM RAM, although this won't be supplied.

Meanwhile, one M.2 2280 SSD slot, with support for PCIe 5.0 SSDs, will support up to 2TB of storage. The new ROG NUC will also include Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 7 support, a 2.5Gb Ethernet port, and various USB ports, including a Thunderbolt 4 socket for DisplayPort over USB-C. Like existing ROG NUCs, internal components will remain accessible via a single toolless screw.

Asus hasn't yet confirmed pricing or a release date for the NUC 15 Performance, but given the specs, we're expecting it to be a much cheaper alternative to the new top-spec ROG NUC.  Either way, we'll be keen to put it to the test when it releases to see how well it performs compared to other competitively priced mini PCs, such as the Geekom AX8 Pro.

If you're looking for a more portable gaming rig than a ROG NUC mini PC, then an Asus handheld is a solid alternative. Check out our Asus ROG Ally X review next to see why that handheld is a powerful performer for gaming with a much cheaper price tag than a top-spec  NUC.
