I Was Finding Roaches in My Shoes, Candles, and Baskets—This Under-$10 Trap Took Care of the Problem

My friends—and especially my colleagues—know that I don’t mind bugs. In fact, I may be a little too friendly with them. I’m not going to kick a spider out for making a web behind some unread books on my bookshelf.

As far as roaches? They can’t sting or bite, so they can’t poison or hurt me. I’ve even befriended and pet a Madagascar hissing roach. However, like Norway rats or house mice, they are technically pests and are potential carriers of diseases.

I wouldn’t say I was thrilled to wake up with a hefty roach skittering above my bed in the morning. And I was definitely not impressed by the species a few days later when I slipped my bare foot in a shoe, only to be greeted by the smooth yet crunchy exoskeleton of another rascally roach.

So, despite my respect for bugs in general, something had to be done. And, as many people navigating this economy right now understand, it had to be done on a budget.

Lo and behold, I found the solution to my insect infestation on Amazon. The Combat Max Large Roach Killing Bait Trap sent out a firm eviction notice to my freeloading roaches.

For less than $10, this pack comes with eight roach traps that contain bait. Simply place the bait traps in areas where roaches typically scurry—along baseboards or in corners—and wait. That’s it.

The roaches will be enticed to enter the trap and take the bait back to their colony, where they’ll share it with other roaches. The bait contains poison, which will eventually eliminate the main roach and the roaches it shared the bait with. The best part is, the bait traps don’t smell, and they aren’t messy.

Before I put out these bait traps, I was seeing at least two roaches in my house daily. After setting them in my bathrooms, bedrooms, and laundry room, I didn’t see any live roaches for weeks. It completely took care of my roach problem.

When I did eventually see another live roach, I just swapped out a couple of my old bait traps for fresh ones, and I never saw that roach again.

These bait traps can last up to three months, but you may have to swap them out more frequently (like me) if you have more roaches. If you really want to make sure your house is roach proof, here are a few more inexpensive solutions to keep the pests out of your house.
