Sherwin-Williams Just Named Its Loneliest Color of 2025—and Everyone Should Be Using It

Sherwin-Williams is no stranger to iconic, best-selling paint colors. But starting last year, the brand began honoring its loneliest hues—the ones that haven’t quite caught on, despite their charm (we see you, Kingdom Gold). 

For 2025, Radiant Lilac SW 0074 takes this title. The rich, inviting purple has been completely overlooked until now. To give it the spotlight it deserves, fashion designer Dapper Dan is creating a custom Radiant Lilac-inspired fit for Dallas Wings rookie Paige Bueckers. Here’s how you can honor this shade in your home. 

About Radiant Lilac

According to Sherwin-Williams, this purple paint color is the least-tinted hue of 2024—meaning it had the fewest gallons sold in 2024. For context, the company tints millions of paint gallons per year, but there were less than 1,000 gallons of Radiant Lilac made. 

The color itself is a deep purple that feels both traditional and modern. Sherwin-Williams thinks it coordinates with several eclectic design styles like mid century modern, retro, Scandinavian, bohemian, and bold minimalism.

“We’re always looking for ways to inspire consumers to take bold and unexpected approaches in their color choices,” director of color marketing Sue Wadden said in a press release. The Loneliest Color is exactly that—celebrating the unique, daring shades that have often been overlooked and would have been considered unconventional before."

How to Use the Loneliest Color in Your Home

Perhaps the reason Radiant Lilac is underrated and undersold is because it takes a certain degree of thoughtfulness to pull off. Color drench your room with it, and it may feel overpowering. But incorporate it with layered textures and neutral decor, and you’ve just created a balanced space that complements the richness of the shade.

Whatever you do, start small and build from there. “I recommend highlighting architectural features, a statement furniture, or even painted kitchen cabinets for a bold yet refined touch,” Wadden said. “Any of the above lend themselves well to DIY projects for homeowners.”

She also recommends using it in intentional doses: in accent walls, painted furniture, or decorative textiles like pillows, rugs, and curtains.

Sherwin-Williams Is Celebrating Other Overlooked Details

The WNBA may be in the spotlight now, but it's still a highly underrated sport—Sherwin-Williams teamed up with one of the WNBA's most celebrated women's basketball players, Paige Bueckers, to represent this message. The top draft pick for 2025 will wear the new shade as a symbol of how to go after what fits you personally—not just what’s trending.
