If you love the likes of Hades but also enjoy co-op, there have been some great options in the past year. Currently, my 2025 frontrunner is Sworn, an Arthurian spin on the action roguelike. But Ravenswatch was the big winner for me in 2024. Already a fantastic action RPG when played alone, the dark fantasy adventure with a fairy-tale cast gets even better if you bring another player along for the ride, and that's more true than ever with the release of its new, free DLC. With two more characters joining the roster and a Steam sale discount to match, it's a great time to play.

From its perspective to the feel of its movement and dashes, Ravenswatch is easy to compare to the likes of Hades, but it's structured rather differently. Its open-ended areas give you a limited time to explore, fight monsters, level up, and gather loot before you're thrust into battle against one of its terrifying Nightmares. That layout makes it thrive as a co-op game, and its two newcomers are perfect for that format.

Ravenswatch's incarnation of Romeo is a fencing master, and Juliet a sharpshooter. Initially, the pair were fated to never leave one another's side, meaning you'd have to play them together in co-op at all times. Following player feedback, however, Passtech decided to relent and enable the ability to use the newcomers in solo mode as well. They still make a perfect team if you have a friend to fight alongside, however, and there are three new Steam achievements to be earned while playing as the feisty duo.

The Ravenswatch Romeo and Juliet DLC is out now and free for all players. To celebrate, the base game is 50% off ($12.49 / £10.49) until Monday June 2. You can download the pair for free here. A premium skin pack is also available, with three pairs of matching skins (themed after the Ravenswatch, the Nightmare, and "a love that defies death"), priced at $4.99 / £4.49.
