Why I'll Never Walk Away from My Faith

Welcome to Christianity.com. My name is Sarah Fraser, and I’m a Bible study mentor—and a Christian. And here’s why that will never change.

I grew up in a Christian home, went to church regularly, memorized Scripture, and was baptized at a young age. For much of my life, I simply assumed Christianity was true. I was encouraged to read my Bible and pray, and somewhere along the way, I started to believe that if I did all the right things, maybe God would love me more.

Everything shifted in college. I met people who didn’t share my beliefs, and as I talked with them, I started to ask myself: Am I only a Christian because of how I was raised? Or do I truly believe this for myself? It took nearly a semester of wrestling, praying, and searching before I realized—yes, I am a Christian because I believe it’s true. It’s not just my upbringing. It’s my choice. My faith.

Throughout my life, I’ve faced deep heartache and sorrow. But again and again, God has shown Himself faithful. His Word has become my daily comfort. Even in my darkest seasons, I’ve found joy and peace through Scripture and prayer. I know I’ll never walk away from my faith—because of the transformation I’ve experienced and the ways God has consistently shown up in my life.

It took me years to understand that I don’t earn God’s love by doing the right things. But embracing the core truth of grace—that God loves me unconditionally—has changed everything. Because of His love, I now serve Him freely. Jesus is my everything. His presence, His peace, His daily companionship through prayer and the Word bring me life. Even in sorrow, I’ve known joy.

One of my favorite biblical truths is the idea of abiding—of making your home in God. To me, that’s what Christianity is: a place to belong, a place where you are both accepted and lovingly challenged to grow into the image of Christ. I will never leave this faith, because it’s where I’ve found my true home.

One of my favorite verses is Psalm 90:1—
"Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations."

Indeed, God is my home. I seek to abide with Him daily. And I could never leave, because with Him, I am never alone.

Be blessed today—and visit Christianity.com often. God isn’t finished with your story. Amen.
