Palworld developer planning a "massive update" for v1.0, which is coming soon

Remember that brief period of time when Palworld was purported as a 'Pokemon killer,' despite the fact that it shares far more similarities with the likes of Valheim than any Nintendo game? I'm surprised some of the monster designs weren't involved in the game's legal proceedings, but developer Pocketpair created a game that captured the hearts of the gaming world. With over two million players logging in at its peak, it put Pocketpair on the map. 18 months after its storming launch, Pocketpair has announced that the game is leaving early access, and v1.0 is on the horizon.

But there are more updates in store before then. In an official press release, Pocketpair thanks players for sticking with the hit survival game, and promises to keep the updates coming ahead of Palworld's full release.

"We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the fans who continue to support Palworld and Pocketpair," the message reads. "Your support encourages us to continue doing our best, and motivates us to make the game even better!"

With the official release of the game arriving next year, Pocketpair has plenty of time for more updates in the meantime. "The official release version, Ver. 1.0, is set to mark a major milestone," says Pocketpair. "We are planning a massive update to mark this occasion.

"Of course, we have several surprises in store for you this year, so stay tuned for further updates!"

"It's no secret that Palworld has a lot of quirks and jank," says John 'Bucky' Buckley, communications director at Pocketpair, in the video announcing v1.0. "And we want to take the time to properly address those before releasing the game."

This means that the developer will be "a little quieter" for the remainder of 2025, and the winter update won't be as big as last year's. However, Bucky promises some surprises are still in store, including some sneak peeks at v1.0 in the "very near future."
