Hidden gem Insurgency Sandstorm's Gold Edition just dropped to its lowest price

Look, I'm just as excited as you for Battlefield 6. After an impressive open beta, the upcoming shooter looks to bring back what EA's series was always good at - chaotic, open warfare that is as destructive as it is tactical. But it's expensive, as most triple-A games are. Instead, you can score the incredible Insurgency: Sandstorm Gold Edition at its lowest price right now, paying just a fraction of what a standard copy of Battlefield 6 costs.

While franchises like Call of Duty and Battlefield always manage to find spots on lists of the best FPS games, many others go under the radar. Insurgency: Sandstorm is one of them, but this sequel to 2014's tough-as-nails original shouldn't be passed on, especially when you can always play the latest EA offering at a later date - and, hopefully, at a discount.

Compared to the first game, Insurgency: Sandstorm does everything a successor should; improved gunplay, a new engine to improve visuals and physics, and further pushing the realistic firefights that made the 2014 entry so engaging. However, the multiplayer game doesn't stray into the ultra-tactical simulation style that experiences like Escape from Tarkov offer, making it much more accessible to any Call of Duty or Battlefield players.

It may be more approachable than games like Ready or Not, but Insurgency: Sandstorm doesn't hold your hand. You and your group of friends (or strangers) need to cooperate to beat your enemies, giving it a nice level of strategy that walks a delicate tightrope of methodical and fun. It's a welcome break from the arcade-style of CoD and its battle royale game counterpart, Warzone, while still keeping up the adrenaline-pumping thrill of a good gunfight.

As someone who regularly plays and ranks FPS titles as some of the best PC games in my library, Insurgency: Sandstorm is a gem that many forget to talk about. It's highly underrated, and if you'd like to pick it up and join me in combat, you can grab the Insurgency Sandstorm: Gold Edition for just $17.99 / £16.49 at Humble, the lowest price ever for this version of the game. This edition includes the base game and a bunch of cosmetics from the year-one and year-two passes.

If you don't want to shell out for the premium edition, you can also grab Insurgency: Sandstorm for just $9.89 / £8.24 at Humble Bundle. That's a little more expensive than the lowest price on record (we're talking a difference of just a few cents here), but still a great discount for an underloved shooter that you'll spend hours playing.

After spending time getting into conflicts in Insurgency: Sandstorm, I'd also recommend giving Delta Force a try, as it's one of the best free PC games that replicates the action of Battlefield 6. However, I wouldn't blame you for still picking up a copy of BF6, especially as I'm more excited about the upcoming PC game than I am for Black Ops 7.

Love the chaos and adrenaline that comes with a great FPS? Well, come and share your favorites in the PCGamesN Discord. Personally, I'll always be sad that Titanfall 3 hasn't been made yet.
