Turning tabletop games into videogames can lead to excellent results. Some of the best RPG games ever made have roots in offline play, like Baldur's Gate 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. It isn't entirely surprising, then, that Frosthaven, a turn-based digital version of the beloved board game and follow-up to Gloomhaven's videogame adaptation, has found an enthusiastic fan base in the short time it's been available in Early Access on Steam. Now, there's some good news for those who have been exploring the in-progress version, as its creator, Snapshot Games, has revealed a roadmap for its new updates, which look to be very substantial.
Frosthaven came out in Early Access at the end of July and has garnered a 72% or 'Mostly Positive' user rating in the time since. Although there's already a good sample of the final version's approach to tactical solo or co-op play available in the Early Access version, the new roadmap provides details of what you can expect over the coming months.
In October, for instance, Frosthaven will receive an update that includes three new heroes, more than 18 new quests, five new bosses, the Unfettered storyline, and much more. Major updates in January, April, and July 2026 will see even more new heroes, quests, bosses, and items, added, alongside the Algox and Lurker storyline and the plot's finale. In all, over 80 quests will come to the game throughout Early Access as well as additions and improvements that round out the experience as it heads into 1.0.
