Right now, the Cronos The New Dawn Steam Deck rating is still undecided, but an issue is currently preventing both AMD FSR and Intel XeSS from working properly, which is reportedly leaving very few options for running this new horror game at a smooth frame rate on the handheld.
The Steam Deck game rating system is one of the reasons why it sits atop our best handheld gaming PC buying guide. It's far from perfect, but it often gives great insight into what to expect from a game's performance on the deck before you buy it.
Cronos The New Dawn is not yet rated for the Steam Deck. This is likely due to the game still being in its early access window for those who purchased the deluxe edition of the game. We expect an official rating to be given shortly after launch.
Steam Deck HQ is reporting that, while both Intel XeSS and AMD FSR are available to turn on in the settings menu, neither appears to be having much of an effect in-game. This is only seen in the very low graphics preset, and it's suggested that the very low graphics profile may have a pre-determined upscaling setting included, thus nullifying the use of FSR or XeSS.
The Cronos The New Dawn system requirements initially gave some cause for concern, with the minimum GPU being an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080, but once upscaling is available, performance should pick up when it's enabled. Whether that will be enough to earn Steam Deck verification remains to be seen.
