What Jack Osbourne Said in Heartfelt New 16-Minute Video About Ozzy's Death

With six weeks passing since the death of Ozzy Osbourne, Jack Osbourne has posted a new podcast as he sorts through the emotions of dealing with his father's passing and thanks the fans and friends of the family for their support over the recent weeks.

How Was Ozzy Prior to His Passing?

In the video, Jack shares that he was extremely grateful to have been able to spend time with Ozzy just after the Back to the Beginning performance. He and his family were due to go on a vacation, but the kids caught stomach flu and that led to a cancelation of their trip that allowed them to spend about a week at the family home instead.

"My dad was in an amazing mood. He was really happy. Every day he was opening up the newspaper and seeing different reviews and different stories from the Back to the Beginning show and it was great," shared Jack.

"My dad was so happy with the show and he was so happy with this next phase of his life. He wanted to spend more time in England. He wanted to spend more time with my kids. He wanted to spend more time with just exploring different things."

How Jack Got Through Learning of His Father's Death

Within the conversation, Jack revealed that he was in Los Angeles when he was awoken at 3:45 in the morning to learn the news that Ozzy had died. It took a while before the news broke publicly and it was on his flight to England that people started learning that Ozzy had died.

"As overwhelming as it can be with the outpour of love and people reaching out, it's also been really validating because I know that my dad was a special guy. He meant a lot to a lot of people. He meant something different to me than 99.999 percent of the world, but the common thread was that he was loved so much," shared Jack.

A Keanu Reeves Anecdote Gave Jack Solace After Ozzy's Death

The mind can go to so many places while processing the loss of a loved one, but one thing that stuck with Jack Osbourne and that he spoke about at Ozzy's funeral was a late night talk show anecdote shared by actor Keanu Reeves.

"There's an interview with Keanu Reeves and he's on some night time talk show or whatever and they asked him what do you think happens when you die. Keanu Reeves answer was, 'I don't know what happens when you die, but what I do know is that the people that love you miss you the most.' I felt that ... immensely," Jack shared.

Jack Osbourne Reflects on His Relationship With Ozzy Osbourne

While sparing some of the more personal details until the family is ready to speak as a whole, Jack eloquently and emotionally painted a picture of the relationship he had with his father within the discussion.

"He wasn't just a father to me. He was a colleague, we worked together in so many capacities. There was a period where I was between houses so I moved back in with him and he was my housemate in my late '30s. It was awesome. Me and the kids were living here," said Jack.

"He was just a friend, a text buddy, a joke cracker. We were so lucky. I had such a great relationship with him and I'm so grateful. And I think that's been the overwhelming feeling has been gratitude, deep gratitude. I'm so grateful that he was my father."

He later added, "The price we pay of loving someone so much is grief — the pain of grief when they're gone. And I'm ok with that."

Jack Osbourne's Thoughts on Ozzy's Death and the Aftermath

"There is almost a perfection to it. He got to say goodbye in such a profound way," says Jack, referring to Ozzy having the Back to the Beginning show just prior to his death. "He got to thank his fans. He got to see his friends he hadn't seen in such a long time. He got to perform. There was so much accomplished before the full stop."

"We saw it all," he shared. "We read all the letters. It didn't go unnoticed. I speak for the family when I say this that we are so grateful for that and it meant so much. It was validating because I know we weren't alone."

Jack Osbourne's Final Thoughts on Ozzy and How the Osbournes Are Coping

In concluding the podcast, Jack addressed how his family is handling the loss now six weeks removed from Ozzy's death.

He shared, "The family is doing ok. We're hanging in there. We're doing what we can to support each other and love each other. My father's legacy will continue. Ozzy Osbourne does not end because he passed away on July 22. He's exploding through the universe and we're all seeing it."

He added that at some point it's likely the full family will gather to reflect on Ozzy publicly, but for now these are his own personal comments on the matter.
