If you're as excited for Battlefield 6 as we are following the recent beta, you might have returned to the game's much-maligned predecessor. Perhaps you're just eager to sharpen your aim, or maybe you've been tempted by the outrageous 95% Steam sale on Battlefield 2042 and the promise of some special BF6 rewards from its ongoing free battlepass. But if you're worried you won't have time to earn them all, there's good news, as we're getting a veritable fiesta of bonus experience events.
Battlefield 2042 has seen a huge uptick in player count following the shutdown of the Battlefield 6 beta. While the multiplayer game was lambasted at launch, it's had a wealth of updates since, and when you can grab it for under $3 and get some freebies in the sequel for your trouble, it's a pretty safe pickup. The current battlepass, which is available to all players for free, has six cosmetic packs to unlock, and you've got until Tuesday October 7 to do so.
If you're unsure that you'll have enough time to level up, rest easy. "We've heard your concerns that you might have missed out on an XP weekend already, or might miss one of the upcoming ones, making it harder to catch up and get all the items from the free battlepass you've wanted," the Battlefield team writes. "We therefore will have a double XP event every weekend until the free battlepass ends on October 7.
"Additionally, the last two weekends will feature triple XP gains, so keep those circled in your calendar," it says. "We will keep an eye on your discussions around the progress you're making and internal data to look for additional adjustments if they are needed down the line." That's a lot of extra experience, particularly on those concluding weekends (presumably September 27 to 28 and October 4 to 5).
There's even still time to get in on the Steam sale saving. Battlefield 2042 is 95% off until Tuesday September 7, so you'll pay just $2.99 / £2.49 for your copy. Grab it here.
