How do you beat The Boss in Metal Gear Solid Delta? Getting thrown to the ground never feels good, and it hurts even more when the person doing it used to be one of your closest allies. The Boss has repeatedly pummeled Snake throughout Operation Snake Eater, but now it's finally time to get revenge by showing her who really is the boss.
The Boss will likely give you the most hassle out of all the Metal Gear Solid Delta bosses, combining raw speed, power, and heaps of combat experience to make you look like a fool. We're here to help make this stealth game fight much easier, giving you the knowledge you need to stop The Boss in her tracks in Metal Gear Solid Delta.
The Boss strategy
You can rely on your Mk22 tranquilizer pistol to defeat The Boss with a non-lethal weapon, but you could greatly benefit from the Mosin Nagant tranquilizer sniper rifle if you managed to pick that up earlier in the game. If not, be sure to read our The End boss fight guide to learn some tips on how you can obtain this powerful stealth tool. Your reward for defeating The Boss using non-lethal tools is the snake camouflage, an all-purpose camo that works in practically any environment.
Take advantage of your surroundings by swapping to the snow camouflage if you have it, giving you the highest camo-index you can obtain in this area. You're going to want to blend in with the white flowers as much as you can, because once The Boss spots you, all bets are off. Likewise, The Boss blends in with her surroundings, so try to keep an eye out for any sudden movements when you've successfully kept her off your trail. She will be watching the flowers move in the wind like a hawk, and you need to be doing the same thing to catch her off guard.
As the co-creator of modern CQC, The Boss will regularly show you not to mess with her in close-range combat as she'll knock off a chunk of your health bar, completely disarming you in the process. If she starts to creep up on you, make sure you don't have any weapons equipped—she will take them from you, removing the bullets and weapon from your arsenal until you pick them up again.
For this reason, you must avoid taking CQC damage at all costs. While you technically can counter her grab, it'll take most people far too long to finish the fight like this. Once she has knocked you onto the ground, she pulls out her trusty Patriot weapon to cause some more damage as you attempt to escape. Keep your distance from The Boss by running away from her at any opportunity you get. Use the trees in the area as cover to hide behind, then keep your sniper rifle ready to hurt her from afar.
She won't just allow you to shoot her from a distance, so watch out as she runs towards you, dodging out of the way of any shots in the process. The sniper rifle isn't effective in this instance; it takes too long to reload between shots. As soon as she starts running, switch to the Mk22 pistol to pepper her with bullets. The further away you are from The Boss, the less likely she is to land a CQC attack.
The fastest way to defeat The Boss is to rely on lethal weapons, mainly assault rifles like the AK-47 and XM16E1, as they can maximize your damage output, particularly when The Boss is running towards you. If you're running low on health, there are three snakes hanging from trees on the battlefield that you can use as food. Likewise, now is your final chance to use any healing items you're carrying as you won't have the opportunity to use them again.
You should have no problems defeating The Boss in Metal Gear Solid Delta with these helpful tips. Now that you've finished the time, it's time to do it all over again.
