Assassin's Creed Mirage is getting a free story DLC set in Saudi Arabia

A new, free Assassin's Creed Mirage DLC will deliver an extra story chapter to Ubisoft's 2023 action-adventure game "later this year." The mini-expansion accompanies the tale of Basim Ibn Ishaq's adventures in ninth-century Baghdad with a trip to AlUla, Saudi Arabia. Ubisoft additionally promises gameplay improvements for the new locale, along with an update to the existing map, all of which will be available as a free download.

Fittingly revealed at the Esports World Cup, which is currently taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the new Assassin's Creed Mirage update will feature a "new story chapter and missions set in ninth-century AlUla." The city is found to the North-West of Saudi Arabia, in the upper parts of the Medina Province. It's a fair trek for Basim from the main story of the action-adventure game, then, which is situated in Baghdad, Iraq.

I ended up coming away pretty taken with Assassin's Creed Mirage, which acted as somewhat of a departure from the modern-style AC games and a return to the old-school focus on careful stealth, high-rise parkour, and carrying out considered assassinations. It's smaller and more tightly focused than Assassin's Creed Shadows and Valhalla on either side of it, and that played well to my affinity for the older games. Ubisoft confirms that this DLC will also include "gameplay improvements for the base game and the new location," and that it'll be available completely for free. There's no date set for it yet, although it will be coming at some point in 2025.
